The new one is not doing too great.  Now they need millions to just to repair it. From the Herald News:

Thanks for the article, Harry.  I agree, why not keep the charming old City Hall?  If it wasn't big enough, I'm sure they could have added on to the building with respect to the existing structure instead of putting up that eyesore in its precarious spot.

Were there fundamental problems with the original building?
...like lead paint or lead pipes and decaying structural damage which made the old City Hall dangerous?
Maybe it was compromised in the fire of 1928?  Do you know?
