Well not Lizzie, but the FR Historical Society every year puts it's Lizzie Borden material away for the Christmas season.

From this morning's FR Herald News:

Thanks Har!  I wish the FRHS site was up to see all their goodies they are selling.
So, Lizzie gets hidden at Christmas?  Hey, Lizzie was "people" too!  For all we know, Lizzie loved Christmas.

I've always wondered how the Borden's celebrated the holidays. Wasn't Bridget asked about a conversation she heard about Christmas?

Then there is that tray that is alleged to be a gift from Lizzie to Abby. I can't make out the year. 1874? 1876?  And she called her Mama.  Is it really a Borden item?

Found this on Lizzie and Christmas.  From Radin, page 51, paperback:

"Her interest in children included more than allowing a group of neighborhood boys to pick unwanted pears from the ground. With a group of friends she organized annual Christmas and Thanksgiving dinners for poor children and newsboys and she was an active worker in the kitchen, cooking and loading their plates."

Lincoln repeats the same story, page 38, paperback.

And Bridget is asked at the trial, page 257:

Q.  I am talking now of Thursday morning when you heard Mrs. Borden and Lizzie talking together?
A.  Yes, sir.
Q.  Then they got along congenially, did they?
A.  Yes, sir, as far as I could see.
Q.  And talked pleasant?
A.  Yes, sir, as far as I could see. When Mrs. Borden talked to them, they talked to her.
Q.  You waited on the table at times when they were all at the table?
A.  Yes, sir, I put the meals on and rung the bell.
Q.  Whenever they rang the bell you went in?
A.  Yes, sir.
Q.  You heard them talking over things about Christmas time, didn't you?
A.  I don't know; I did not stay much in the dining room when the folks were eating at all.
Q.  I don't mean that, but you heard them talking over about Christmas things?
A.  No, sir, I don't remember that.
Q.  Have you forgotten that?
A.  No, sir, I did not.

Here I'm not sure whether he's referring to the conversation between Lizzie and Abby or the conversation that went on in the dining room on the morning of the murders.

You mean that the FRHS doesn't put garland around the cases with the hatchet head and guest room bedspread, or festoon Lizzie's dinner pail or jail stool with candy canes? I'm SO disappointed! (Sorry, I couldn't resist!)

Thanks, Harry.  I wonder what other displays besides Lizzie's that get put away for the holidays?  It sounds like they have a beautiful Christmas display there, I wonder if anyone could get pics for us?

Just curious, but do we know if, since Lizzie was in custody during Christmas 1892, she was allowed to decorate her cell?  I ask because it seems that she was allowed other privileges such as taking walks in the courtyard and having her meals delivered from a local resturant.

They won't talk to me about crime photos until January, that's all I know.
Hey, what if I had wanted a nifty copy of Andrew-on-the-couch to give as a stocking stuffer?

Boy, it sounds like they really put Lizzie to bed during the holidays, they won't even discuss it with you?  They must have quite an operating budget if they are able to turn down business, Andrew must be turning in his grave.

Well I didn't know they had all those Faberge eggs.  That's really something!

[This is just an example of Faberge egg, not from FRHS]

BTW:  That Herald News link is old already.

Looks like they changed the URL for the story.  I went and found the new address and changed it in message #1 so that the URL works again.
