An interesting article, Harry. Perhaps more historic homes and commercial buildings in Fall River and other towns and cities will be saved when residents become aware of elements of history their communities could lose otherwise. I think it is difficult, though, to attract buyers or renovators of houses with narrow restrictions on things like storm windows and doors, antennas (and nowadays satellite dishes), lighting fixtures, and other such "take it for granted" additions/improvements. I'd guess that while some people want to live in an "historic" home most do not want to live in a museum.

Good picture of the old Fall River City Hall!

Thanks, great article, Harry.  Its too bad that so much has gone down the drain in the way of Fall River history, lets hope that they will be able to protect what is currently standing there for good.

Thanks for the link, Har, and keeping us apprised of the going's on in Fall River.
I am impressed with Staff Writer Deborah Allard-Bernardi still following the story and keeping the issue in the spotlight.

Since I have an opinion on almost everthing, I went ahead and posted my opinion on her series of stories.  She really is to be commended.

The sad fact is that time, termites?, and fire have "naturally" put an end to many houses. How many are standing from 18th century times?
Rebuilding and renewal continues to occur in many areas.

I've heard of some towns where old houses and bought up, then torn down, so the land can be subdivided and two (or more) homes put up.

Harry, thanks for the valuable link.  I'm heading to Fall River later this week to join the Historical Society...it's the only way we can preserve our past for our future.
