Has anyone seen the movie the weight of water?  I watched it not long ago, it is loosely based on the smuttynose island axe murders of 1873. I found a link to the history of the murders if anyone is interested http://www.seacoastnh.com/smuttynose/newsclips.html
They convicted a man of those crimes and he was hung for them, but there was always a doubt that the surviving woman did not do it herself.  They found her hiding in a cave where she claimed she had gotten away from the killer, she was the one who identified him.  Now would not it have been easier if Lizzie just would have torn her dress alittle and hid in the barn claiming she got away from the killer then point the finger at someone like Morse, or Bill Borden?

That's a good one!  I read the book but did not see the movie.  The member here who reccommended the book thought it was better than the movie.
I think it's a cool story that gets almost gets over-shadowed by the modern story.
That's a great link too.

Yea I wonder why Lizzie didn't throw herself on the body of Andrew screaming - that would take care of any blood found on her clothes later.
A Damsel in distress.  But she didn't play damsel-in-distress did she?  That was a gamble, wasn't it!

The most likely reason for this is that Lizzie had no blood on her dress. Nobody believes "she denuded herself"?
