I found this blip whilst searching on Lizzie. Apparently, John C. Minkins was the only African-American reporter who covered the Borden murders.
"John C. Minkins, of Pawtucket, liked to boast that he was the first black editor-in-chief of a white-owned daily newspaper in the country.
The paper was a small Republican daily ..."

Thanks for the heads-up, Doug. It would be interesting to see what Mr. Minkins' write-up was on the Borden case. I was going to ask you if it was worth joining, but, it doesn't sound so at the moment.
