Very interesting, Diana!  I see that the play requires only one set, and the cast consists of six men and nine women.  Let's see.  Which characters would that be?
          Men                              Women

         Andrew                            Lizzie
         John Morse                       Emma
         Dr. Bowen                        Abby
         Me                                  Alice (?)
         Brownie                            ?
         ?                                     ?
                                               ?
                                               ?
                                               ?
Who else d'you think would be essential to the plot?  Of course, that might depend on where the emphasis falls.  An author might elect to
have Mrs. Churchill be the real killer, in which case she would be an essential character.  (She, being a lovelorn widow, falls for the obvious charms of Andrew Borden.  When Andrew leaves the house for downstreet every morning, he stops in to see Addie.  Abby, on her way to the market, sees Andrew emerging from Addie's house with a satisfied -- albeit fake -- grin and tells him he must choose between them.  Andrew chooses Abby, because she's such a comfort on a cold winter's night and makes the best mincemeat pie in the world.  That sets the stage for Addie to take revenge on her faithless lover and his meddling wife.  Sex!  Violence!  Melodrama!  This script has it all!)

We need a maid.
That's what I always say.

Pardon my Edit;

I just realized how this works.
Cast: 6M, 9W
Set: One Interior Set
Time: About 2 Hours
Pricing: $5.00 Per Script ($50 Royalty First Performance, $40 Each Additional)

So the cast is 15, at 5.00 a script, that's $75.
And first Royalty = an extra $50, that's $125.00 to start?

That's a bit different than $5 a script.  See I'm learning the *fine print*.

Yes -- it would cost that much if you wanted to put it on, Kat. I guess I was just thinking about buying a copy to read.

Edisto, I'd pay more than $5 to read your play! I see by the link below that Jennifer Crandell played Mrs. Churchill when "Lizzie Borden of Fall River" was performed at the Heartland Theatre in Yucaipa, CA. Perhaps Ms. Crandell would be willing to reprise her role in your version.

I think this is the very first time in print somebody accused Mrs. Churchill. I think it is a wonderful solution to the case. I think you have done it, Edisto. Case closed!

No, really, that was perfectly funny. And so full of pathos and intrigue. Why not have Andrew be a husband who cheats with the neighbor woman, the widowed neighbor woman? Spends all his money on wine, women, and song, and leaves nothing for his family? What if he was not planning on writing a will but planning to leave that sorry family of dour women?

Just speculatin for fun.

When I purchased this item in 1997, the price was ten dollars.
It's refreshing to note that someone is decreasing their prices; leaves room for some hope in our future economy.

And worth so much less...

A truly ghastly piece of writing, as I remember.  Mr. Tim Kelly makes a living by churning out hundreds of school-and-regional theater group friendly plays and musicals.  His name is throughout the Pioneer Dramatists Catalogue, which I receive.  Nice work if you can get it, but we're not talking about a good product.
