The Mansfield News (Mansfield, Mass) had the the following item in it:

"Was Lizzie Borden wrongly blamed?

Friday, September 19, 2003

Over 100 years ago a proper New England spinster made a permanent place in history for herself. Her name was Lizzie Borden and she was accused of an unspeakable crime: the brutal hatchet murder of her father and stepmother. The mystery continues to today - was she a murderess or an innocent woman wrongly blamed? Jean Nedde, a Lizzie Borden historian, will present the background and facts of the Borden murders on Monday, Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. at the Mansfield Public Library, 255 Hope St., Mansfield. You'll be asked to imagine yourself a member of the jury, and to decide if the original jury made the right decision."

The "trial" is this Monday.

Thanks Har!
I take it this is Massachusetts?
It's funny they assume we know where Mansfield is.
I wonder if they'll take absentee ballots?

Could only tell because of the word "Boston".
I did go looking at other on-line newspapers (linked) and they had the one from the city where I was born!  I never thought to look for that before, and I really know nothing of the place as we moved when I was maybe 2 or 3.
Thanks Har!

Is this a fund raising stunt. No admission, but they will pass a tin cup? (Many public libraries etc. are suffering cutbacks this year.)

If this will be true to the facts, the original and the Stamford Univ mock trial, Lizzie will be again vindicated.
