The past week has seen some Crime Solving!
Green River Killer Suspect Arrested.
Now, Patricia Cornwell "is certain she has found
the true culprit: Walter Sickert (as Jack the Ripper),
an impressionist painter who walked the same east London
streets...and 20 years later produced a gruesome series
of paintings of murdered prostitutes." (ABC NEWS).
The Star Magazine this week says Jon Benet Ramsey's death
is "Solved" by a special process that proves
there was urine in her bed-sheets, inferring Patsey lost
it over constant bed-wetting of the child, killed her,
and covered up the crime. They say the proof is in the
sheets because the parents swore Jon Benet had NOT wet
the sheets Christmas night--therefore they LIED.
Let's see--what other famous cases can be solved this
week?

If anyone is interested, the web-address is still "fresh".

That didn't work. Trytryagain. If this doesn't work I
have the printed synopsis of the Cornwell/Ripper story
and if there's interest I'll post it.

If you check "amazon.com" you may find that
the charge against Walter Sickert has been made in the
past. More believable than a "new theory".
Patricia Corwell sounds like an interesting writer, altho
her other works are fiction (like Victoria Lincoln?).
I'll wait until it shows up in my public library. I'm
interested in why it was never followed up before. Rich
and influential family? Or what?
The ABC PrimeTime special noted "$4 million"
spent. Her picture collection may increase in value if
her story is accepted. So WHO is Walter Sickart anyway?

First of all, our very own Frank Spiering wrote on Jack
the Ripper, in his 1978 book, Prince Jack.
This has a bearing on Walter Sickert because the theory
involves Prince Albert Victor, Duke of Clarence, government
conspiracy in a cover-up, and The Royal physician Sir
William Gull.

From:
The Jackthe Ripper A to Z, 1991, Paul Begg, Martin Fido
and Keith Skinner. Pages 412-413.
"Sickert, Walter Richard (1860-1942)
Recently alleged suspect. Major British painter, of Danish
extraction. RA, 1934; resigned, 1935. Founder member of
informal New English Art Club; impressionist, responsible
for schism which led the Newlyn Group of exterior painters
to withdraw. Sickert and his followers in the 'Camden
School' concentrated on depressed urban interiors which
(with vaguely Degas-like paintings of music-halls) became
Sickert's best known and most influential work.
According to friends and associates, Sickert was interested
in several murders and criminal cases, and his not otherwise
exceptional interest in the Ripper case may have gained
a frisson from his having allegedly occupied a room once
used by the Ripper himself. (See SICKERT'S veterinary
suspect).
Joseph Gorman Sickert (P.411-claims to be Walter's illegitimate
son) has alleged that Walter knew of a Mosonic conspiracy
to murder prostitutes who were blackmailing the Government,
and Stephen Knight came to the conclusion that Sickert
was himself one of the murderers(Jack the Ripper the Final
Solution)."
-There's more, but you get the gist: & sounds familiar?
Illegitimate son, Government cover-up," FINAL SOLUTION",
and Walter was even born in that Magic year--1860 !!!
-BTW: This is not necessarily the opinion of this transcriber,
OR PATRICIA CORNWELL! Just background from 1960's thru
1991.

Thanks "kat", that's a good quote.
When do you ever get time to eat and sleep?

You made me chuckle, Ray...
Actually I have a pretty good memory as to where I read
something and can find it fast.
I also eat 5 x a day on schedule, and sleep 81/2 to 9
hours a DAY.

I looked her up in the library; they have about ten of
her books. She was a former crime reporter from Charlotte
NC. She writes novels about a Medical Examiner. This must
be her first "true crime" book.
The library has Stephen Knight's "Jack the Ripper:
the Final Solution" which may have renewed interest
in this old case (crime files opened). I would read this
first.
You can also look up Ann Rule's books, which are all true
crime. She was a policewoman in the 50s-60s; she once
worked with Ted Bundy!

I've read most of Cornwell, but stopped when my mother
died and she got "gruesome". I think I could
now go back and read the last 2 or so I skipped. Cornwell
also worked as a computer anaylist for the Chief Medical
Examiner's office in VA.(I just looked it up...)
I have or have read about 15 books on Jack-the-R., the
most recent is the Letters From Hell, Evans & Skinner
which compares the letters written during that time. I'm
allergic to the ink in that book, so someone will have
to tell me the synopsis.
I've read All Ann Rule, and am on the waiting list at
my library for her newest: Every Breath You Take. ("Augusta"
wrote to her and she WROTE back!)
I live in Central Florida and we "baked Bundy!"
You've hit on all my favorites!
What are yours?
BTW: We own "Best Evidence" about the Kennedy
assassination, but I never read it--bought it for the
autopsy photo's...now may read it 'cause of what you said.
(Though have read about 4 books on the subject, including
the book out on the results of the Warren Commission...)

Not to get off-topic, but "High Treason" by
Robert Groden & (?) has a lot of pictures, some of
them do not show what the author says (probable printing?).
Groden was an acoustic expert hired by Congressional Select
Committe that reinvestigated JFK Assassination circa 1977.
A lot of books were published in the following years,
based on the evidence uncovered then.
The TV show "Unexplained Mysteries" in late
November had some authors on (like Jim Marrs).
They also had a show on "Dec 7 1941" last week.
Did anyone read Robt. Stinett's book?

Go off-topic anytime you want, Ray.
What is the book you refer to?

Robert Stinett's "Day of Deceit" was published
in early 2000 (?). He was in WW2 Navy, then Oakland Tribune
until he retired in 1986.
His research into Pearl Harbor uncovered some long hidden
documents that say "it was planned by the US Govt".
They knew how to punch Japan's buttons to get them to
attack (reading their mail). This book should be read
by anyone interested in "hidden history".

"Hidden History" is the REAL history, as far
as I'm concerned...but if I read that kind of history,
I'm afraid I'd want to "check out" of this planet,
and this solar system!

Robt. Stinett's book is about 300 pages, and very readable.
Aside from the long-censored document, most of it was
known or suspected just after WW2.
Why was the North Pacific closed off to shipping? THAT
gave the Japanese a covered path to Hawaii.
Also, they KNEW what the American actions (cutting off
oil, advising the Dutch and British to not sell supplies,
etc.)
Be Prepared?
