Does anyone know how to get the virtual reality Borden house player to work?  I have tried downloading it numerous times and I can't open the file.  Has anyone else had this problem, is there other software I can download to play the house files?  Thanks.

Hi Susan - That was the first thing I did when I got the Internet - go to that virtual LB house.  That was about four years ago.  To this day I still cannot get that thing to work.  I know we had to download that Virtus Player, but I could never open it back up again.  I wish its creator would have very simple instructions on that site.  If anyone knows, I'd love to find out how to make it work too.

Boy, I'm glad I didn't even try!
I've been thinking about doing just that over this weekend!
The Nancy McNelly/halfmoon e-mails are all returned.
Stef and I have been trying to reach her about her web-site for a YEAR!

I did find out that she is/was "a research ANATOMIST at B.U. School of Medicine"...that would be real *Handy* to have someone like that around the case!

She DID write a huge article in the LBQ about how she created the site.  Maybe instuctions are there?

(see Bibliography, Annotated LBQ'S, at lizzieandrewborden site, for issue...)

For the Virtual Reality Floorplans of 92 Second Street use this website:

www.halfmoon.org/borden

Click on the url above then scroll down the page that opens and you will see a listing of 3 or 4 links...click on the floor plan link titled: GO TO THE VIRTUAL BORDEN HOUSE.

When this page opens you will have a choice of "2D Floorplans" or "3D Floorplans"...best bet is to choose "2D" since most computers have the ability to "read" these...if you choose "3D" you may have to download certain software (there are links given) but things may go arrary...best bet...take "2D"...have fun

Poouuffff...you're there...

I also have not been able to get the 3D version to run. This is a VERY old program in the world of computers, 1998. It appears to have been written originally for Windows 3.1 which is several lifetimes ago in the world of software.

When I download the program it doesn't appear to download a file with an extension.

I tried dowloading it from other web sites and I got a version with an .exe extension. The version is a MS-DOS program. I was not able to get that program to run either.

I don't think the company who wrote the software is in business anymore. At least their website appears to be dead.

I feel much better now.  I've been lured back into that site for years -- even tried some higher tech, higher speed computers at school to see if I could get the 3D going.  But now I figure, if Harry can't get it running, it isn't going to happen.

Well, its nice to see I'm not the only one.  That virtus player thing has been driving me up the wall!  I guess I will make an attempt with the 2D model, though it won't be as much fun as 3D.  I've never visited the Bed & Breakfast so I thought this would give me a close feel to walking through it, oh well.  *sigh*
