One thing I have a problem with concerning this recipe - besides the 'cover with water' part, is the meat used.  How do you use steak & pork steak (which is like a pork chop) for meat loaf?  You'd have to grind it, otherwise it would be just hunks of meat in there.  Maybe something's missing.  Maybe back then they took it for granted that you knew to have the meat ground first.  Several meat loaf recipes today use half ground beef and half ground pork or veal.  I think that's it - Lizzie left out the word "ground".

Still sounds BLAH.  Like boiled ground meat.
Where's the KAT-chup?

It should be called Lizzie's Meat Ball.

This is more like it:

1 lb. papa
1/2 lb step mamma
1 hatchet
1 fake note
3 different alibis
2 comforting women friends
1 sister out of town
25 police at the yearly picnic

Grease somebody's palm,  cover your butt well to avoid hot water & bake about one hour and a half at moderate temperature.

Ghoulish, I realize.

That was GREAt!
..and is your little guy *tenderizing* papa?
Do you compose those actions, or are they off somewhere on a site creating mayhem all by themselves in the dark, until you resurrect them, here?

Oh, there are some pretty shameful smileys out there. From gross to grosser to perverted. I am picking out the least offensive, I hope, to share.

By the way, the web site for the smileys, once again, is:
http://www.smilies-world.de/Smileys.htm

You have to copy and paste the code under each smiley into the posting as is. The formatting is right with Arborwood.

Lots more to choose from than the forum's measly samplings, I must say!

Oh, I got a good laugh out of this one, Stefani!!!

It does seem that they took alot for granted with their receipts from way back when.  Was it served with a gravy or KAT-chup or tomato sauce?

And it seems circumspect to me that Lizzie had a meatloaf recipe at all, she had Bridget(or Maggie) to cook her meals for her in her father's home and she employed a cook at Maplecroft.  Perhaps the recipe was her cooks and a favorite of hers?  And I always thought of meatloaf as a more modern food, something say from like the late 40's to the 50's, than the 1800's.
