1. "Phebe Hathaway"

Seems Phebe was married to Hosea Morse.  Found this in Ancestry.com genealogy report for Phebe.  Doesn't list and kids, though.  If Brown is correct about Billy being Phebe & Andrew's kid, there might be some research to do in genealogy....

HOSEA MORSE was born August 01, 1808 in CARVER, MA.  He married PHEBE M. HATHAWAY February 23, 1834 in WAREHAM, MA.

The family tree that I downloaded shows Lizzie in it, but no direct relationship to Hosea Morse. Ve-e-e-rrry Strange, indeed!

Seems Hoffman's "Yesterday In Old Fall River" lists several "Hathaways", none Phebe:
Andrew J., of Dighton, Mass.
Charles F., of Swansea
Franklin L., of New Bedford
George E., of Taunton
George W., of "Freetown"
Joseph W., of Taunton
Nathaniel, from Columbia University
Stephen A., of Freetown.
--The point is there may well be several Phebe Hathaway's also.

In Rebello, pg. 373+, "...Deacon Borden was married twice.  His first marriage, at the age of 28, was to Phebe Hathaway, age 23, on October 16, 1839(sic-1836).  She was the daughter of Michael and Hannah (Davis) Hathaway of Freetown, Mass.  Phebe was born in Freetown, July 30, 1816.  Charles L. & Phebe (Hathaway) Borden were the parents of 6 children:  Charles A. Borden, Amanda A...., Hannah H..., Eliza Ann...Eliza Ann (2nd)...and William S. Borden."

...Phebe died May 17, 1859 in Fall River (buried Oak Grove), and was "...beloved for her humble, earnest, fervent piety..."

--Of course it doesn't say if SHE was married before this marriage,,,

--Not much is known, or at least published about the Morse family....
