1. "Which one is the true pose??"

I have these two images of Lizzie. One is a reverse of the other. Does anyone know which one is the correct image? Strange how you can totally reverse Lizzie's face and she looks almost exactly the same. Isn't that unusual?? Carol, didn't we discuss this earlier?

Hello Stefani:
The Lizzie Borden Quarterly, vol.7.#1, January 2000, has the #1 picture of Lizzie on its first page.
The information below the picture: "Lizzie Borden, c. 1880. A new
millenium photograph discovery made possible by the Fall River Historical Society. To the best of our knowledge this is the premiere printing of this latest Lizzie Borden photograph. It was bequeathed to the Fall River Historical Society by an anonymous letter writer."

I believe it's number one, as well.

If there was any mark or mole on her face, you could tell which one. Most faces are not symmetric, so other knowledge could be used (one ear lower?). Good luck!

That's a good one, Stef. If it wasn't such a rare picture, I'd think they were two different poses. But printing both out and comparing them with one face down (still seeing the photo with light) it looks like the same photo.
The sides of her face are different, if you cover one side, then the other. Her right side is a little prettier - higher, thinner.

From what I have seen, it seems that when
Lizzie was younger, her photos were taken from the right
side of her face. Later on when she was older, from
her left. Doesn't prove anything, just what I've
noticed.

That's interesting, Susan. I hadn't noticed. Maybe Lizzie thought that was her best side.

I do remember Lincoln mentioning as Lizzie
got older she started to get "jowly" and stopped
being photographed from the side and did more head-on
or 3/4 views. But, as I had said, just a little
something I had noticed.
