Is it true that Andrew Borden, legally, had a second cousin named William Borden, and was this the William S. Borden who was or is allegedly rumored to be his illegitimate son? I found this information recently but i cant really pin-point the source, so it has little value to me. I dont believe it, but I wonder if anyone knows more about this so-called "second cousin".

Dave,
I've done some heavy-duty genealogy research recently into the connection between Andrew and William.  Haven't come across anything except for William Borden, born in Portsmouth, Newport, RI 15 Aug 1689. William died 1748. He married Alice Hull 7 Jul 1715. Might be too old to be a 2nd cousin (or a kid of Andrew's)

I'll continue to look, however.  If it's out there in the genealogical community, I'll find it.

Terence has a genealogy link he created to "Bordens", in his article "All Things Swift", at the web-site.  But for some reason, chart #4, which is the one needed, doesn't load for me.

There is a genealogy link at UMass, but it's very hard to read / assess relationships.

There ARE 2 William Borden's, but can't tell how related.

-One William Borden (1781-1874)
-One William Borden (1840-1872)

william s. borden's gggreat grandfather joseph b.12-03-1680 has a brother named richard b.10-25-1671.
richard is the gggreat grandfather of andrew j. borden.
joseph borden is also the ggggreat grandfather of sophia s. wilcox
(wife of william a. davis of south dartmouth).

Does that make Sophia Ninth Generation?
I've looked for any "Sophia" in all eighth And ninth generation Borden, and can't find her.  Can you tell us her father's name?

I'm using as a reference:
THE GENEALOGY OF THE BORDEN FAMILY living in FALL RIVER AND VINCINITY, 1876, from FALL RIVER AND IT'S INDUSTRIES:
Atlantic Publishing and Engraving Co., New York; Benjamin Earl & Son, Fall River, Mass. 1877...
-From the FRHS
-admittedly it has some errors (the easy kind to notice) so it may not be complete, but it does encompass 9th generation.

Thanks for your help, Joe. Keep lookin'.

As u know, I'm trying to prove that our lovable, pea-brained, suspenders-wearin', hatchet-swingin', stinky-as-hell little pal, Billy Borden, is our killer

Thanks to Joe AND Jeffery!
It's pretty much Greek to me--I don't know how they do it!
