I just returned from two days of adjudicting at Florida State Thespians and looked at my email.

I am so sad to report that Terence Duniho died last Saturday of a heart attack. I received the news from Simone, his wife.

I am inconsolable. He was a great great friend.

What sad news for all of us who had the good fortune to have met Terence  through his many messages on this and the previous Lizzie board.

His help in assembling the missing pages on the trial was typical of his generosity and something for which we all can be greatful.  His private e-mails to me encouraging me to keep at the typing of it were always welcome.

We shall miss you Terence. God bless.

Stefani told me that Simone said to her:

"Now he knows the Answer ".

We all wish her well.

Amen....May his soul find refuge in a land of peace and happiness.

May his loved ones find repose in knowing WHO now cares for him.

May those of us whom he knew as friends be consoled in our hour of sorrow.

May we all know that he is now a star among the stars.

Peace be with him and those he cherished during his short time on earth.

Amen.

BC

Hi All. Just thought I'd drop in momentarily. Stefani told me the tragic news last night. As many of u from the old board know, Terence and I didnt always see eye to eye on the Borden case and other things, but it was always a riveting experience debating him. He was a man of intellect who strove towards ethical values, something I respected him for, and I believe he has made a contribution to Borden studies and to people's lives that will not soon be forgotten. His death has been a shock and I was very stunned and saddened in my soul by the news. Terence emailed me on the day just before his death. I hope he's in a much better place now.

This has been a terrible shock.  The only consolation is that this exuberant fellow enjoyed every minute of his life and was never bored.  I always enjoyed his remarks about Simone and how much he adored her.

My condolences to his family.

I never met him; was it a complete surprise? Sometimes people don't talk about their health, or of relatives, etc.

Didn't Pearson and Sullivan die the year after they published their work accusing Lizzie of the crime?

You know you're old when your boyhood friends start dying. No matter what they've done in the past decades. (The guys I used to know all had big bellies by their 40s.)

I, too, am very upset to think I'll never get another e-mail from Terry.  I'm so grateful that we got to meet last year while he and Simone were in NYC, the two of us sitting for hours in a Starbuck's on 6th Avenue, chewing over the Bordens and related projects.  Take care, Terence - I'll miss you.

Terence was a spiritual person who tried to believe in the best in people.  He was gentle and forgiving.
He also worked out every day, and was in good shape and good-looking.

He died at the same age as Stefani's and my father.  Good men, both.

I am so sad to hear of the unexpected death of my friend Terence. I met him by e-mail on the darkrose board but never had a chance to meet him in person. There was in his posts a depth of intelligence and caring so much that I felt I could write him off-forum and he wrote back.  Since then we had kept up a correspondence on the Lizzie case, a correspondence which has been so valuable to me. I was encouraging him to finish the novel about the Lizzie case he was working on. I hope it gets published.  I treasure the opportunity to have been part of his circle of friends. During one of our e-mail conversations he told me about a restaurant near his house which he liked.  So I told him if I ever got to visit the area I would buy him an ice cream there.  On Wednesday I will go and have an ice cream cone in honor of my internet friend. Peace be with you Terence.

For once, I'm almost speechless...Like others here, I never got to meet Terence in person, but I did enjoy a series of e-mails with him and was sorry to see him depart the LBMB.  Maybe we can take consolation in the fact that he didn't have that long "downtime" that we all dread, and that he (probably) didn't see it coming.  It's the kind of end I would wish for myself and for everyone I care about.  I hope Simone is right and that he has finally solved the Great Mystery.  Now if he can only find a way to share the solution with us!

I was shocked and saddened by the news of Terance's passing.  If there's a way for him to tell us whodunit, he'll doit.  My sympathies to all who knew him and loved him.  The Bordenites have indeed suffered a loss.  May light perpetual shine upon him.

I am putting together a memory book for Simone. If anyone would like to contribute any thoughts or messages, you can post them here or by emailing me at koorey@lizzieandrewborden.com

I am going to print the messages out on this very pretty paper with small leaves in it and send it to her on Saturday along with a condolence card.

I wish I could get all of you to sign it, but I guess that isn't possible.

I found this very small image of Terence on the web. If you go to google.com and click on image gallery, enter "terence duniho" in quotation marks. One image is there. The web page it refers to is not in business anymore, but you can see him there. He loved hats.

I got the latest LBQ today and was pleased to see not one but two articles by Terence.  One is the cover piece about Arthur Phillips, and the other is an account of his recent visit to Fall River and stay in the B&B, which he had shared with us via e-mail.  There's also a very informative Letter to the Editor by our own Harry -- as eagle-eyed as ever!  Great issue!

It's amazing to me the urge that TER had to see that house on Second Street and stay there and commune with Lizzie, and even write in her diary!
His timing was impeccable, and Timing Is All!

Again I am saddened though I had never met nor even conversed ala internet with Ter but after receiving my recent LBQ and reading his overnight adventure in Fall River, I am moved.

I find in his writing that he and his wife (widow) spent their only night at the B & B exactly one month to the day before my daughter and I did...2/22/2002 and 3/22/2002.

Also in this edition of LBQ is a picture (pg 21, courtesty of Jeannine H. Bertolet) of the exterior wall of 92 Second Street that is the area between the house and the print shop.  It is the only section of the house that cannot be seen from the exterior.

The spooky part of this is that I myself took a photo of that exact same space while there.  Though the photo does not relate to Terrence's visit it is odd that THAT photo is shown...why, I wonder?

While reading Ter's writing I got chills knowing that one our most beloved Bordenites had been there just a month before I was...further evidence that this IS REALLY A SMALL, SMALL WORLD.

Peace be with you Terrence...

I have been away from the Forum most of the past few weeks. I am so sorry to learn that Terence Duniho passed away earlier this month. I knew Terence only through his message board postings and will miss his interesting and thoughtful commentary. DP
