Thomas Barlow, of the famous "Me" in "Me and Brownie" apparently had a need for shoes. 

In the Rebello name compilation it has, in part, the following for Mr. Barlow:

"Thomas Barlow and Hugh Fairhurst, a friend, were arrested on Sunday, October 8, 1893 for breaking and entering into Sears & Hall Shoe Store in the Granite Block Building. Later that night they were caught breaking into Daniel F. Sullivan's Shoe Store on South Main Street."

Arrested twice in the same day. Obviously, the first arrest didn't have much effect. Maybe he was looking for a pair of those Congress shoes.

So, since he was a little thief, do you also think it possible that he perjured himself on the witness stand?  That Brownie and he cooked up a little scheme just to get some attention?  Hmmmmm.
