Saw this really weird ad this morning.
I think it was on during a break in "Rendez-View", which is on CBS, after Dave.
I looked up and there was a little ol' woman with her back to us, inquiring about the "MIDAS GUARANTEE".
The lettering on the lower screen, said:
"Fall River, Mass".
I supposed they had used a real live Owner/operator to do the ad.
He's saying we give "a life-time guarantee!"
And she says, "ON These?"--and flashes her raincoat open at him.  He stares for the remainder of the uncomfortable ad...like the slow count of 4 (you know, onethosandoneonethosandtwo.)..that's a long time for silence in an ad!
It was strange!
Anybody know this guy? Or seen this odd ad?

Are you sure you weren't having an "out-of-body" experience??  I used to have them but then they went away...snicker, snicker.

Seriously though Kat, I don't spend much time in front of the tube, I would rather read a good or bad book, like the sixth one I am reading on Lizzie.

If by chance I do catch that commerical I will post it...dodododo, anybody seen Rod Serling?  BC

At William's suggestion, on the Forum, Stef and I decided to get hold of the book "WOMEN WHO KILL", by Ann Jones.  This is the book I had been reading all night, but I do watch Leno's monologue, and then Rendez-View..that's about it...besides some news. (and West Wing, & CSI)  (I didn't read 6,000 books in 35 years by watching T.V., like you've also read a lot of books, BC, especially this past month!)

We thought we had this book, William, but it turns out we had, (GET THIS) KILLER WOMEN, ed. by Richard Glynn-JONES!
By the way, it's really good and I wonder if V. Lincoln knew Ms. Jones....

OH! I know what I wanted to mention...any of you that live near Fall River may FInd this MIDAS guy, and RAZz the shite out of him!!!!

Well, no one admitted to having seen this ad, and I, myself, had not seen it again....until This past Tuesday night on the World News (Peter Jennings?)
Seems there is a Committee Hearing going on right now in Washington, about discrimination and ridicule of the elderly in T.V. ads etc. that use this type of disparaging view of seniors to try to sell more products to youth by false and rude comparisons.  The Emmy winning lady that plays the mother of RAYMOND was testifying.  Then they showed this ad!  Apparently so many people objected to it, it was yanked almost immediately!  So my looking up from a BOOK at the instant that ad showed, probably for the first & last time, has made history!  (And the World News)
And it all happened in Fall River.
Your intrepid reporter, signing out......kk

Didn't you also have a strange sighting while watching one of those judge shows? Something about looking up and seeing somebody in the audience with a t-shirt on that read "1892"?

That was pretty freaky. Maybe that is a band?

Judge Larry Joe Texas Guy or some such name.
The young man was seated in camera line a few rows behind the defendent.  Gray T-shirt said "1892" across the front, and nothing else.  Weird.

Was that the year when the Jack Daniels Co started? Or something such like that? Surely other things happened in 1892?
Was that when Grover Cleveland won a second term?

Household Sewing Machine

President and Mrs Grover Cleveland advertising the Household Sewing Machine, made by the Household Sewing Machine Co., Providence, R.I.

"First elected in 1884, President Cleveland entered the White House as a bachelor and, two years later, married Francis Folsom, who was his former ward and 28 years younger. Their marriage was quite popular, and they are seen on a number of different trade cards.

One wonders if they received any money for these endorsements. Also, it's hard to believe that the First Lady would be doing any sewing.

The reverse of this card is blank.

This card was printed by Donaldson Brothers, N.Y., and is shown at 85 percent of its actual size."

Picture called CLEVELAND
From the Victoriana.com site

[Edit here:  Cleveland was defeated in 1888, but re-elected in 1892, correct, Ray.]

Yes, you can be SURE he got paid.
Any comments on Sen Bob Dole doing Viagara commercials? I wonder when President Willy will this?

Speaking about lives prettied up for obituaries:
"President Clinton gave new prominence to lowly White House interns."
I swear there are no puns here!
