I have found many areas around the state that are allegedly haunted, I have only listed the ones that were in the areas that are associated with Lizzie Borden.

From The Legacy Archives-Massachusetts Ghosts & Hauntings Site

34. Fall River-92 Second St. Fall River/Bed & Breakfast
This is the house where Lizzie Borden lived and supposedly killed her father and step mother, Andrew and Abbey (sic) Borden.  Cold spots are reported and doors open and close by themselves.  Many ghost have appeared and disappeared especially in the second floor bedroom where the murder occurred.

35.  Fall River-Aldea
Mysterious noises, mysterious blurs in photos...house left untouched...supposedly 4 people lived there, a man, wife, and 2 children...and one night the youngest child died and the man lost his mind killing his wife and daughter and then himself.

36.  Fall River-Oak Grove Cemetery
Witnesses report seeing lights in the cemetery and some have even heard screaming coming from the Borden family plot, accompanied with bad feelings.

42.  Haverhill-Lizzie Borden's lawyer's house
This is the house of allegeded murderer Lizzie Borden's lawyer's house.  A family moved into the house in 1995, doors mysteriously opened and there were noises.  There is a door that the family never had opened and their dog used to sit and bark at it.  The family moved out that month.

65.  New Bedford-Zieterion Theater
The original owner of the "Z" hanged himself in the projection booth of the theater in the 1920s.  He is never seen, but, his presence is known.  There is an overpowering feeling of deja vu, and a feeling of people watching you.  There are also hallways and rooms that were built with no entry, and doors that do not lead to anywhere.  No one, not even the staff, are allowed to go down to the basement by themselves.

104.  Taunton-Paul Dever Developmental Hospital
Strange lights and cries for help reported.

105.  Taunton-The Cemetery on Broadway Street
In the cemetery, there sits a rocking chair where a little girl is buried.  People have reported seeing her sitting in the rocking chair and it glows.

106.  Taunton-The woods behind Taunton State Hospital
At night, throughout the woods, you can hear moaning, soft screaming, and sometimes even banging.  Some people say that it is homeless people who go to live in the woods and die there.  Others say that it is the victims of brutal murders.  Most people believe that they are the ghosts of patients from the hospital.

108.  Tyngsboro-Near Colonel Tyng's house
A ghost, believed to be that of a murdered wife who came back to kill her husband.

109.  Tyngsboro-The Old Church
Reported lights at night, unexplained noises from the basement.  Once featured on the TV show, Unsolved Mysteries.

An interesting list! Regarding entry number 42, Haverhill, Massachusetts, was the home of William H. Moody, co-counsel for the prosecution in the Lizzie Borden trial. Moody was not one of Lizzie's lawyers.

Yes, Susan, it is. Massachusetts has many interesting places to visit, especially those of historic interest. This is the first list I have seen of haunted places, though. One of the eeriest stories I recall reading of a haunted place in Massachusetts was about a woman's ghost inhabiting an old fort, I think called Fort Warren, in Boston Harbor.

There is a book by Nancy Roberts on haunted houses. It includes the 92 Second Street address.  Barnes & Noble sells it, Amazon too, I presume. I haven't read it so can't tell you whether its worth buying.

The cemetery where Lizzie's pets are buried is supposed to be haunted.

Thanks for the Moody post, Doug.  For a minute I thought Susan meant Jennings' house.

Thanks for the wonderful photos, Susan!  And stories!  That theatre one sounds real good.  Rebello has an entry about when they opened up the B & B a maid there saw an indentation on the guest room bed in the shape of a body and she quit on the spot.  (I would too!)  I talked to Martha McGinn several years ago, and she shared with me just a few of the things that have gone on.  I believe they're true.  If there's any house that would be haunted, it'd be that one.  I don't think Lizzie's there, tho.  I think Lizzie's at Maplecroft.  I haven't heard of any ghostly happenings there.  I wonder if anyone's seen anything.

Susan, What is the last picture on your post?  Where was it taken at?

That last photo is an interior shot of the Taunton State Hospital at Christmas circa 1900.  Pretty cool.  I wonder(they didn't state)if it was the employee lounge or a visitors' area?

Since it has a piano and looks pretty nice - too nice for an employees lounge - I'd guess it was for visitors or patients/visitors.  Is the photo just before that the hallway at the hospital?  Did you go there?  Is it still there?

No, Augusta, I've never been there.  Those pictures were posted on a site for the hospital, I'm not sure where that visitor's room is, but, that hallway is actually a bridge into the property!

Taunton State Hospital has more than one building on the property.  It's a number of buildings that some connect to each other and some don't.  The one that you think is a bridge to the hospital is actually located in the main dining facility which is a round structure--this is no longer open--I worked at TSH in 1978 and it wasn't open at that time either.

I worked in the Cain bldg and it connected to the Chambers building and Gifford bldg. by an under ground tunnel.  The tunnel was dark and creepy--the patients wandered around in that space, and we used to move things between the buildings when the weather was bad.  Food for parties and clothing donations etc.

On the top of the Cain bldg, was wrought iron fences that were separated into sections.  They use to chain the patients up there when they acted out.  On the first day that I worked there a patient jumped of the top of the building and landed on his ankles and broke both of them and lived to talk about it!!  This building was 3 or 4 stores high.

I saw the electric shock lab and they also had hugh bathtubs that had canvas covers so only the head of the person would stick out and they would fill the tub with freezing cold water.  So much for modern medicine.  None of these procedures were taking place in 1978, but it hadn't been that long since they had stopped using these methods.

I still think the grounds of TSH were beautiful and peaceful--it would make a grand country club.

Thanks for the info, Tracie!  I agree, it does look like it could be a beautiful place if cleaned up!

Thats pretty intense, the hospital putting people up on the roof and chaining them there!!!  Its a wonder more of them didn't jump or get strangled in their chains.  No wonder this place has a reputation for being haunted!

Pretty straightforward account of the "haunting" at 92 Second Street at this site:

Wow, thanks for the cool link, Harry!  I guess we need to hang on to all this stuff for Halloween!  Loved the creepy little song in the background at the site, gave me shivers!
