"Cyrus Cole Rounseville was summoned to the court as a witness for the prosecution, although he was never called to the stand.  Rounseville claimed that he asked Andrew if he was going to his farm to escape the summer heat and Andrew told him he would probably stay in town because of trouble in his family.  Some interpreted the statement as referring to the anger Lizzie and Emma felt over Andrew giving Abby's half-sister shares in a house on Fourth Street."

(From "Yesterday in Old Fall River", pg. 306, Paul Dennis Hoffman, c. 2000, Carolina Academic Press, NC.)

This does not say that Andrew told him that in 1892, but it probably was then if they were going to call him as a witness.  Cyrus was at one time vice-president of both the Union Savings Bank and the Troy Co-Operative Bank.  But again it does not give the year(s) that he was.  Does anyone have any more info on this?

Thanks for the post, Kat.  Hm.  This is quite different from what I found in Mr. Hoffman's book.  I wonder where he got his source.

Speaking of the conference papers, does anyone know where a copy can be found for a decent price?  I found one copy priced at like $125.  I won't pay that.
