I just realized that since visiting 92 and Oak Grove two weeks ago, not an hour goes by that I don't think of something related to the Bordens. Sure I've always been merely fascinated, but now, never mind every day, every hour- sometimes every few minutes-they are popping up in my brain.
Lizzie's picture is on my desktop, I seem to always have a copy of one of the books about her in my backpack, my coffee table and desk at home are littered with postcards from the B&B, pages and pages of notes I've written and re-written for my upcoming slide show, more books about the case, a cd with Borden images on it, floppies with my own impressions of Lizzie on them, which I am forever editing and adding to, I dream about them, and the first thing I do EVERY morning is check out this forum.
Am I going a little mad? Lithium, please.

Actually you sound pretty normal to us Kash.

They're adding a new wing to the Taunton Insane Asylum just for us.

That sounds like what happened to me after I visited the B&B in 1998.  D'you suppose we've been possessed by Lizzie?  My interest seems to come in spurts.  When I was in Fall River, I bought all the Lizzie books I could find, because I'd only read Arnold Brown's at that time, and I had some doubts about his theory of the case.  After I read those, my interest ebbed a little until I (finally) got on the Internet a couple of years later.  I began assembling all the primary materials I could get.  Now that I have a fairly complete Lizzie collection, I find my interest ebbing again.  Think I need another "fix" at the B&B.

Cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs! Cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs! (Speaking for myself Eds)Possessed by Lizzie? No, I can't say that I believe in such things, but I do often wonder where she is now and if she's aware of the impact she still has on all of us.

Kash, you sound like the rest of us Bordenites, nothing wrong there.  Maybe Dube will open up Maplesauce as a rest home for us?

If Bordenites get More involved after visiting the house, what does that say about those of us who come here constanly and haven't been to mecca?
My gosh, I can't imagine!

Kash, you personally are probably wound up about your lecture.  Just think how blase you can be 20 years from now as the new Jules Ryckebusch being interviewd on your opinions on video for the "Everythings Been Discoverd Channel"?

Kat, Kat Please! I'll be impossible all day now, preparing for my interview already! (But Jules? No, I sentimentalize Lizzie too much) But you're right, I am wound up over the talk. Pray for me...

I don't have Lizzie wallpaper, but I do have a Borden mousepad.  It has the house and the entire Borden menage, including Bridget.  It's getting terribly faded (sorta like the Bedford cord).  Wish somebody would come up with a new one I could buy.

Edisto, I remember that a friend of mine got a mousepad specifically made for him with his dogs on it.  If you'd like I'll ask him where it was that he got this done.  I would think that there might be more places that do this, give them the pictures you want on it and they will make it for you.

Eds, why don't you just burn that old mousepad up?
And yes Kim, I admit, I have Lizzie on my desktop wallpaper (hanging head in shame) Its the picture when she was about twenty-one, almost in profile, and I have it tiled, so there are actually lots of little Lizzies. With light blue window icons. One of my co-workers from Barbados took a look at it the other day and, not knowing Lizzie, asked me, "Carbone, who dat? Ya girlfriend?"

Not that there is anything to be ashamed of, it is just that she was
kinda sullen-looking in most of her pics, don't ya think?

Sullen? The ones taken around the time of the trials, yes you're right. But her in younger pictures she's smiling (kind of)

Kind of. Don't you agree she didn't look like anybody
to be messed with?

Oh I don't know Kim. I get the feeling she would be a big sentimental pussycat under that tough Cancerian shell. One would definately have to proceed with caution though...Nance certainly knew how to get under her skin (and probably under her corset too)

Would you have hit on her? She seems more like someone
you would wait for them to make the first move. I always
thought she did the courting of Nance. I don't know if I
would have the nerve to make a pass at someone who was
accused at killing people, I don't know, it just seems ornery.

What evidence do you have that Lizzie was "courting" Nance?

21. "Re: Losing My Mind"

Same evidence as for everything else, what I have read,
she enjoyed the theater & enjoyed seeing Nance, I don't
think they would have met if Nance just showed up on her
doorstep. So it seems like Lizzie was doing the 'courting'.

Glad you clarified that, from what you said before talking about being hit on, courting and making a pass, etc., it sounded like you were going down the road of those who, without any evidence, thought Lizzie was a lesbian and was after Nance in that way. Of course, you can go down any road you want, but that is more gossip than scholarship. I've never heard those phrases used to describe just someone's interest in the theatre and someone's performances in it.

I don't think any of my friendships with women have been gossiped
about as being lesbian affairs, I don't see why theirs was. I
personally like the idea of Lizzie having a romance, regardless of
who the other party was. I wasn't really talking about her interest
in the theater, I was talking about what it must have been like
to encounter The Lizzie Borden & think she was interesting or
pretty and how intimidating she seemed. If she wasn't a lesbian
then the object of her affections were men & I would think that it
wouldn't be easy to go up to Lizzie & hit on her, regardless of
the sex of the person who liked her.
