Let's take Augusta's first thought from the other thread and play it out. It could prove interesting.

Ok, Lizzie didn't do it but knows who did. That someone has kept quiet for life, never revealing themself to anyone at any time. Who would be so loyal. Who would kill for Lizzie?

I would have to say, Emma.  That is the only person in Lizzie's life that I know of, that loved and cared for her and took a deathbed vow to her mother to take care of "Baby Lizzie" for her.

Why isn't a Lizzie Kewpie or better yet, a Emma Kewpie, complete with hatchet?

Was that interview later denounced by Emma as the invention of a reporter. "Never let the facts get in the way of a good story."

Actually I never read that she denounced that *Interview*.
You'd think if Emma was into moving away and changing her name, though, that she not only would NOT grant any interview, she would not denounce one publically made in her name.

I don't have any references at hand. Yes, Emma shunned publicity and reporters (so would any wise person today; they make their money by reporting faults of their subjects).
But wouldn't she use a spokesman like Rev Buck?

Victoria Lincoln says Uncle John arranged for Abby to leave the house (the note), then covered it up. She believes "Lizzie did it" but doesn't hold it against her!
The Yankees on the Hill accepted parricide, but choked on shoplifting.

I think Buck was dead & gone by then.
*Emma Interview* 1913.
Rev. Buck died 1903.

BTW:  I've wanted to ask this from the very beginning...WHy is the title of this topic "Helped By A Third Party" ?  Who is the "2nd Party", implied, but left out?

This topic has 4 minutes left, I just noticed.
I still would like to know who the implied "2nd party" is?
Is it Emma?

She has been suspiciously absent from all our ruminations.  Is she so invisible, or just a Master at staying in the Background?

Perhaps the first party is the victim, the second party is the killer, the third party is the second party's helper?
