In the latest LBQ in the Doherty Trial Testimony, he says that (p. 15) in reply to Doherty's question about whether the Portuguese working for her father were "here this morning" Lizzie said "No, sir, Mr. Eddy is sick. They would not hurt my father anyhow."

How did Lizzie know that Mr. Eddy was sick. I don't remember anything about this. Could a small innocent comment like this be a clue?

Is it possible Eddy had been sick for some time and that it was common knowledge?  Somewhere I've read that Andrew Borden was looking for a person to work on one of his farms, and I wondered if it wasn't to take up the slack because of Eddy's illness.  (Isn't it interesting how two of us can read the same thing and come to such different conclusions?  I envisioned Mr. Eddy slowly dying of cancer, and Stef thought he had maybe a sore throat and would soon be up and about.)

Witness Statements, pg. 36, Seaver notes seeing and speaking to Frederick Eddy.  Eddy mentions that Morse said he had come to visit the farm as "Mr. Borden sent him over to see how I was, and get the eggs."

So I assume that at least by Wednesday even Morse knew about Eddy being sick.

Did Mr. Eddy normally deliver the eggs to the Borden house?  If he hadn't shown on his normal delivery day, perhaps once Andrew found out would have mentioned it to the household.  Didn't Uncle John even make some sort of comment along those lines that he picked up the eggs to save Andrew a trip out to the farm?

Did she receive the proverbial note from a sick freind?

I think it was a note from Mr. Eddy saying that he was sick and couldn't deliver the eggs!
