Hi Lizzie Mystery Fans,

As some (or all?) of you may know, I've been working on a Lizzie book, it's titled "A New Look At Lizzie Borden and the Murder Case." The book is finished but I'm in the unenviable stage of editing and revising it, changing, adding, and deleting things. Or to put it more accurately, I WAS in that stage until I had to put it on hold to deal with things that have to do with an author coming out with a new book--in this case, a novel. But I hope to soon return to the Lizzie book and complete the "fix up." Initially I intended to just write this ONE book on the case, but I have some overlooked/unpublished/rare/new information on the case which I uncovered during the research faze (and snippets of which I posted on various Lizzie boards) and I had trouble finding a place for much of it in this first book, which is somewhat more like an anthology, with contributions from others, kind of like Professor Ryckebusch's "Proceedings". Anyway, so I intend to include much of this material in a second Lizzie book down the road. But there is at least one bombshell in this first Lizzie book that will perhaps shake the Lizzie world and cause torrents of awe, disbelief, and wonder. Len Rebello will also be coming out with a second Lizzie book some time in the future, and a certain somebody (not me unfortunately) had the unique thrill of rummaging through these gems of research he has uncovered himself. There will be new information on Bridget Sullivan, as well as other key players in this never-ending drama, including new little tidbits on the likes of Mayor Coughlin. Duniho informed me shortly before his death that he was in telephone contact with the great-nephew of David Mason Anthony, Jr., the alleged lover of Lizzie Borden, and that he was getting interesting information from the man which he intended to use in future writings on the case. So you see, there is still much tantilizing Bordenia that I and many other Lizzie writers will be feeding you, probably for a long time to come. If Stefani posts them with her board re-vamp, you'll enjoy the free right to see 6 articles of mine (long withheld) which I submitted to her for her board.

New dialogues. Okay, I know there are some who can't resist imposing their personal subjective "standards" on others, so I'm going to spare such people any annoyance. For those who dont wanna check it out, this isnt for you so you will of course enjoy exercising your free democratic right to NOT read it, I already know its not your cup of tea so dont drink it and then come complaining to me about the taste!! . For the rest of you, you can practice your free democratic right to check out and enjoy the last of my witty and irreverent little dialogues by emailing me for them at d.rehak@shaw.ca. I stopped writing and posting them here long ago for obvious reasons. Its basically the last batch, thank God(dess) or goodness

Now on to the final matter. I've had a few phone conversations with my literary agent and I have learned that my publisher posted my book on his website really early after only a small number of copies had yet been printed, not anticipating any great early demand from a new and as yet unpromoted and relatively unknown author as myself. But as soon as I posted the link on Stefani's site 3 days later, there was a real flood of pre-orders that came in for the book, which caught my publisher off-guard. I suppose that's inevitable given the number of hits this Lizzie board gets and the number of posters, and especially lurkers, that come to it, and especially the fact that I was a well-known poster for about 2 years. Anyway, a few people have told me they still haven't gotten it, so if you've been waiting for 6-8 weeks and still haven't received your copy, that's highly irregular and unacceptable. I humbly beg your pardon and I beg your patience, as my publisher is only now recovering from the early deluge of orders. But in case you haven't gotten your order yet and would like an update on your order status, please email support@publishamerica.com or call their inquiries line at 240-529-1031. So far, I've gotten 4 reviews of the book and all positive, so that's heartening.

Smiles and blessings,

Dave Rehak

Thanks for the info, Dave Rehak!  I had no idea that you were writing a book on Lizzie!  This is exciting news!!!

Thanks Susan! You're sweet

One more thing of interest which I might add: much of this digging for new and rare Bordenia involves the descendants of people involved in the case or the descendants of friends, etc of Lizzie. Another interesting thing is the personal feelings that coninue to linger with these people, as with us. For example, I've looked into it and the descendants of Ernest Terry, Jr., Lizzie's chauffeur in later years, are strongly convinced of Lizzie's innocence, and they make no secret of this conviction. Bridget's Sullivan's descendants seem more neutral, and they'll give you info as long as you assure them that your book is not a Lizzie-dunnit but a balanced and impartial account. I don't know about the descendants who feel Lizzie is guilty, but I would wager a guess how Prosecutor Knowlton's descendants would feel LOL

Well, I wish I could stay and chat, but its back to the writing process for me. Stay well everyone, and God bless you.

(I know Dave probably won't be here to answer, but) Bridget had descendants?  That's news in itself!

Why yes, anyone who has brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews can be said to have relatives; but "descendants" may not be the right word.

I do believe there might be a little problem with semantics here.  If Bridget came from a very large family, as has been reported, I'm sure she did have relatives.  I specifically mentioned "descendants," however.
