Thanks Augusta!
Always willing to be reminded of HURRICANES!
Actually, I started my annual $200 kit 2 nights ago. Bought 2 gallons of water.
I had to ask which kind to get. It expires!
I think it is really the Plastic which expires, not the water. The minerals in the water probably interact over time with the chemicals in the plastic.
The guy I asked wondered why I needed to know. I wanted to buy distilled. He said how long are you going to keep it before you drink it?
I said "A Year!"
That's when I get the chuckle and the funny look.
I said as he departed"This is my 'Hurricane' kit, just a bit early! A hurricane/slash/war kit!"
Hurricane season starts June 1st. Just ruins the summer!

This is another reason to recycle glass containers. Better to have 8 quart bottles than two gallon bottles. IMO.
The "danger" in glass is not just that it breaks, but that the fizz in the soda does not disappear in 6 months! Planned obsolescence?

I much prefer glass, and I much prefer smaller bottles. I don't trust plastics that hold food over a long period.
Now Gerber's is putting baby food in plastic and celebrating this innovation! Yuck.
