Aside from the murders & trial, what event(s) or aspect(s) of Lizzie Borden's life most interest or intrigue you?

You've gone 3 hours and no one has an opinion?
Is everyone at a Holiday Parade?  (I just saw one on T.V).
Hello Tina-Kate!  Our very own published author!!
(I get to wear sunglasses cause I have over 3,000 posts!)

Other than the crime, my interest would have to be *Life At Maplecoft* after the trial.
I know that encompasses a whole SeCOND HALF of a life, but maybe even if it wasn't Lizzie, I would be pretty intersted in that kind of historical recreation of a life.  Stick some *infamy* on that life, and season with *legend* and I think that whole period, 1893-1927 of Lizzie (AND EMMA'S) life is FASCINATING.

This reminds me of that old joke: "Other than that, how did you enjoy the play, Mrs. Lincoln?"  Unfortunately, Lizzie sounds pretty boring, except for that one year out of her life.  I guess I'd like to know more about her personality.  Did she have a quick temper?  What did Emma mean by saying Lizzie was "queer"?  Had Lizzie ever done anything violent prior to August 4, 1892? (I'm not talking about beheading fictional kittens here.)

Outside of the murders, I've always been fascinated by the Victorian era; the fashions, the homes, the social mores and such of Lizzie's life.  The time period must have been so exciting, electricity coming into use, movies started to be made, later on, there were motor cars, the changing of hemlines and hairstyles, the change in music, and suddenly people flying in planes.  I wonder what our Lizzie, as a woman, made of all this?  Was she so cosmopolitan that she just took all these new things in stride or did it made her head swim?

I think of my life and the advent of the computer in it.  I can chat with someone online who lives in Australia that I never would have met without the computer!  I find that fascinating!  Thats why I'm curious about Lizzie's life during this era with all the new technology that came about.

The family relationships; how Lizzie and Emma changed after they were on their own; the ability of a woman to cope with being accused of murder yet having to go on with life knowing others would think her guilty; the challenges of living with what she perhaps knew and could not say..how this affected her life; her relationship with Emma; her real thoughts about money and position; her interest in Scotland; her thoughts at old age about her lifetime; what she thought about women in her society; her thoughts about men; her thoughts on what might have been; her regrets; and a hundred other things.

outside of the crimes, lizzie doesn't interest me at all.  but looking at it, i see she has no interest in men.  she wants to occupy affluent society.  she's interested in that actress, nance.  she is probably a lesbian.  but none of that is interesting to me.  i've wondered if the aforementioned figures in the crimes, but i don't know how.  that later theft of an artwork is damaging to her character but i can't be sure it is true.

lizzie was a silent mystery in her later years.  she did not want us to know anything about her.

I agree with Susan --- I love Victoriana too. But I can't say
I'd be so interested in her if it took place some other time.
Maybe, but I doubt it.

I would, like several others, know more about the individuals of the episode.  We are given to believe that Lizzie care for the company of a man therefore she must have been a lesbian.  However in my talk with Len Rebello last spring at the B & B he empatically denies any lesbian activity between Lizzie and Nance, Lizzie and Emma or Lizzie and anyone.  I don't know his source for this claim but I can assure you he was quite solid on his belief.

Having the same birthday (September 13th) as Andrew J. I have been asked in the past about comparative value to another Virgo.  I could understand his tight-fistedness but I am not convinced this is true Virgoian trait.  I would certainly enjoy knowing more of his true behavior INSIDE the house.

We know little of Abby, Emma, Uncle John, and Bridget with respect to their real life actions and quirks.  I have to say that I would like to know more of these characters which might shed a different light on who did or did not do it!
