I was doing a search for Lizzie Biorden a few weeks ago on Kazaa and I came across a really neat episode of a radio show called "Suspense". The episode is called "Goodbye Miss Lizzie Borden". Has anyone else heard this? It puts an interesting spin on things, although it isn't EXACTLY accurate with all its facts. I'm not sure how I could post it here for others to download, but if anyone has any ideas, please let me know. I'm not going to tell you the plot because I think you should listen to it for yourselves first. It's supposed to be a suspense after all...

Someone around here is REading Minds because this just came up privately like yesterday.
We have a C-D of radio plays and that is on it.
Someone else wrote and offered the same play.
Maybe someone can figure out how to link to a download ?
Thanks for bringing this up!

I have a copy of it as well.  Also a friend sent me a hard copy of the actual play by Lillian De La Torre.  Great reading as well.  The radio play doesn't follow the play script exactly probably due to time considerations.

The file is quite large, some 7mb, and is probably still under copyright.

It is an interesting variation that's for sure.

A side note:  One of the actresses voices you hear is Virginia Gregg. Besides starring in numerous episodes of the old TV series Dragnet with Jack Webb she was the voice of the mother in the movie classic "Psycho".

Wow, that would be cool!  I tried to open this post yesterday and the site went all wonky again.  I sent a link to Stefani awhile ago for a site that carried lots of radio plays, but, the owner had temporarily shut it down due to bandwidth issues.  I wonder if it is back up?  There was that play and one other on Lizzie Borden.  Thanks for thinking of us, Emma.

Hate to be anal on this, but Virginia Gregg was only one of the performers who supplied the voice of Mrs. Bates in PSYCHO (my favorite film).  Jeanette Nolan, wife of the film's "Sheriff Chambers," John McIntyre, also recorded a few lines and some screams, and a man impersonating a woman supplied most of the voice we hear when it's supposed to be Mrs. Bates speaking to Norman - that is, Norman speaking out loud as his own mother.

Miss Gregg was around long enough to "do" Mother by herself in both PSYCHO II and III, though.

In an interview with Rex Reed many years ago, Hitch said he'd love to have a dinner party at which Miss Borden would be one of the guests.

Oooo, I love that movie!  I wonder what Hitch would serve Lizzie if he had her to dinner, mutton?
