I will be having my second stay at the Lizzie Borden B&B in July.

Last time I stayed on the 3rd floor with my husband (we were the only ones up there as they hadn't booked the other 2 rooms up there.

This time I am going with mom, and brother (hubby says he'd never return) and we're staying in the Andrew and Abby suite.

I cannot wait!

Welcome Anet! You are one of the lucky ones -- I've
never been to Fall River.

Actually, you'd most likely be a little shocked by the down-trodden Fall River.  Besides the fact that it is just a blip on the map.  The last time I stayed a taxi stand across the street is the only thing that kept me in contact with the 21st century and made me a little less frightened.

Thanks for the welcome.

Hi, Anet.  Welcome.  Are you going to the Historical Society while you stay at the B&B?  It would be great to get a trip report when you get back.  I've never been and like hearing other people's take on the place.

Susan,

Congrats on winning the contest!

I hadn't planned to go to the Historical Society but since you mention it I may add it to my plans.  I looked at the website and it does seem interesting.  I am sure my mom will be all over it.

I do plan to go to dinner at the same place as last time, The Abby Cafe.  It's a culinary school located in Lizzie's old church.  The food was wonderful.

Thank you, Anet.  Sorry, my little wavy guy wasn't working in my post to you.

I am into Victorian things so I think I would enjoy a visit to the FRHS even outside of the Borden exhibit.

What sort of food do they serve at the Abby Cafe?  I had an old roommate that was going to culinary school and let me tell you, she made the most wonderful food as part of her homework!  Yum.

My oldest brother took his eldest son on a trip to Fall River to see the Battleship Massachusetts, might be something to see if you are into that sort of thing.  They also went to the Marine Museum which has a Titanic exhibit there, I think that would be interesting to see.

I did tell my nephew about Lizzie Borden and he has assured me that next time they go, he wants to see the FRHS and the B&B, they didn't have time while there.

Thanks for the wave.

The Abby Grille serves the usual, steak, seafood, etc.  Very good food and nice atmosphere.  Plus it fits right in with the whole Lizzie thing.

Thanks for the tips on other places to go.  Now that you've mentioned the Titanic Exhibit at the Marine Museum, that may have to be worked into the schedule as well.  Mom and I are also Titanic buffs.

I think my favorite part of staying at the B&B, aside from the scary thrill of it, was the evening tour at 8/8:30PM.  It's very much like a ghost story right before bed.

I am leaving my 10 month old son home with Daddy while we go.  I hope he won't mind my fitting in all this other stuff while I am there.  Of course if I don't get to it all, my dad lives 15 minutes from Fall River (in Portsmouth, RI) so I can always go see it on a visit to him.

Someday I'd like to visit some other "haunted" B&B's, like the Winchester Mansion or someplace similar.  I hate rollercoasters but I imagine I get the same sheer thrill from being "safely" scared beyond belief.

Oh, I've been to the Winchester Mansion, it was very, very cool!  Unfortunately, you can't stay overnight in it.  If you ever come out to California, it is a must see.  And here in San Diego we have quite a few places that are listed on the haunted registry, the Whaley house, Villa Montezuma, etc.  We also have the Hotel Del Coronado which is supposed to be haunted and you can stay there!  They do serve a wonderful all-you-can-eat breakfast out on the veranda.

Well, I'm glad I was able to help give you some ideas for you trip, hope its great!  Like I said, when you get back from it, give us a trip report.
