In the spirit of that charming lady who said, "She is not my mother, sir...," I just want to wish all my fellow mothers a most happy Mother's Day.  ("Fellow mothers?"  Doesn't sound right somehow -- kinda like when the waitress asks a tableful of women, "Are you guys ready to order now?")

Yes, Happy Mother's Day all!  In honor of Mother's Day, I reworked a little ditty for our Lizzie to sing about Abby.  Sung to the tune of MOTHER-A Word That Means The World To Me, lyrics by Howard Johnson, music by Theodore Morse, 1915:

MOTHER-Something You Will Never Be To Me

I've been a-round the world, you bet, but nev-er fin-ished high school.
Harsh words are all I seem to get, per-haps I've been a fool;
But still, some ed-u-ca-ted folks, who placed me in a cell,
Would fail if they were called up-on a sim-ple word to spell.

Now if you would like to put me to a test,
Theres one dreadful name that I can spell the best:

"M" is for the mut-ton that she gave me,
"O" means on-ly that shes fat and old,
"T" is for the tears nev-er shed by me,
"H" is for the hat-chet sharp and cold,
"E" is for her eyes with av-ar-ice shin-ing,
"R" means rage and in one I'll al-ways be,

Put them all to-ge-ther they spell Moth-er,
Something you will nev-er be to me.

When I was with Mis-sus Gif-ford, she said a word I had to knock,
While be-ing fit-ted for a gar-ment, I tried my best, but, had to talk;
It was-n't long be-fore I spoke and all the neigh-bors heard,
Most folks were shocked to learn that "MOTH-ER" was the word.

Al-though I'll nev-er lay claim to this ill got-ten fame,
I'm sat-is-fied that I can still spell that name;

"M" is for the mean-ness she pos-ses-ses,
"O" means that I owe her for all I now own,
"T" is for the two-faces she im-pres-ses,
"H" is for her hold on Fa-ther and our home,
"E" means ev-'ry-thing she's done be-hind me,
"R" means rea-son for hat-ing, you see,

Put them all to-ge-ther they spell Moth-er,
Something you will nev-er be to me.

Indeed, Susan!  Very nicely done!  I think we had a chorus going up and down the East Coast.

  Thank you!  I just got off the phone with my mom, we had a nice long chat.  I just found out that my sister will be a mother for the first time in October, what wonderful news to get on Mother's Day!  Still, I can't help but wonder what it must be like to be a mother and get those wonderful hand-made cards and gifts from your children on your special day?

Oooo, found out that by next week we should know the sex of the baby, I'm tickled to be an aunt again!
