When Lizzie was a wee lass of 14, 5 members of the Donnelly family were murdered in their home in the wee hours of Feb 4, 1880.  (Victims included a Bridget).

An interesting site for anyone interested in another infamous Victorian tragedy this weekend:

http://www.donnellys.com

BTW, no one was ever convicted of these murders either.

I've never heard of this one! It looks great though.

I was reminded of this by the Maplecroft thread re discussion of Fall River residents being uncomfortable with Lizzie's infamy.  I looked for & found this site when the Lizzie Board was down this afternoon.

My dad took me to the little town of Lucan back around '71.  Just a tiny little Victorian town.  We tried to find Donnelly sites, but the townfolk all looked at us like we were aliens & said, "Don't know nothin' about it."  (Yeah, right).  The Donnellys were murdered by a vigilante gang of their own neighbours...so, guess the residents (many likely descendants of the killers) wished it had never happened.  Probably worse than Fall River.

However, since then it seems the town has learned to embrace the infamy & they encourage the tourist trade.

Thanks, Tina-Kate.  I think I actually saw something on TV about them before?  I'll have to go back and go through the site more thoroughly tomorrow.
