You are not alone, Patsy. I also gave up watching the Chronicles. It has way too much graphic violence, blood and gore for me. I have to wonder at what point does blood and gore stop being a visual and start becoming offensive, monotonous and immature? IMO: It’s a very cheesy series, and it is definitely not my cup of tea.

Curryong wrote:I'm glad she enjoyed the episode, but, being picky and pedantic here, for a Borden historian maybe she should check on a few things. Eliza B. threw two children down a cistern, not three down a well! Not that I should be complaining of other people's memory failings! …
According to the research I have done, Eliza attempted to drown all three of her children, but the 4 year old, Maria Borden Chace, escaped and fled the scene.

Posted by Harry on May 26, 2007:

I did find mention of the crime in the Boston Globe of June 18, 1893. The article was discussing murders that occurred in the area near the Borden house on Second Street over the years. In part it reads:

"... Some time back in the forties, about 1845, the little low cottage house next the Borden estate on 2d st. was occupied by Ladwick Borden, an uncle of the late Andrew J. Borden, and here it was about that time that Ladwick Borden's wife Eliza, in a fit of temporary insanity, drowned her two youngest children in a cistern and then cut her own throat. An older child, a girl, married, and today living in Fall River, escaped from the clutches of the irresponsible woman or she, too, would have been a victim of her mother's diseased mind. This was the second of the great crimes, and, while it was horrifying in the extreme, it did not create the sensation which accompanied the murder of Miss Cornell and is

Today Almost Forgotten

by the inhabitants. Indeed, if it had not been brought to mind by the Borden tragedy last August in the next house it would have passed entirely from memory. ..."

Good question, Curry.

We will be buried in a simple rural cemetary on a beautiful side hill with our deceased son and daughter when I am finally ready to inurn her ashes . Instead of a stone we have a granite bench with our names engraved so people can sit and enjoy the wind blowing through the trees. Flowers can can still be planted so long as there's edging for the mower. My husband's family is interred there back several generations along with aunts, uncles and cousins. I like the idea of people sitting on my grave enjoying the peace and beauty.

What a lovely idea, Debbie, a granite bench for children, grandchildren, and to have your children and husband's family also nearby. Miniature roses around the edge wouldn't take up too much room. I think it all sounds wonderful, but don't do it for another thirty years or so!

My plans are much more ill-defined, except that I want to be cremated. Too much reading of the details of disinterments in numerous true crime books, I expect. So, if anyone poisons me at 93 and it's not immediately investigated, they'll get away with it!

Thanks twins, for supplying the rating figures for the LBC. I guess the regulars are making other plans and going into other acting projects, then. If a TV production isn't well written it just doesn't succeed.

You're welcome, Curry. I think for us who study the Lizzie Borden case, know that The Chronicles are so far fetched and over the top that we quickly loose interest. I don't find The Chronicles at all entertaining.

I watched about 30 minutes of one episode and thought "This is ridiculous!" and changed the channel.

Yes, I think that's the reaction of most, judging by the ratings. It's a bit of a shame because with some care, good plot development and so on, it could have been a fine little series.

I am concerned for her. I realize that her time is most likely taken up with the twins, but I sent her a PM on the 14th of this month, which she has not picked-up yet. I hope everything is alright and she is just taking a break.

I highly doubt that You double posted intentionally; you wanted to reach to 3,000 posts sooner.

If I can do nothing for the double-murder, I at least solved this mysterious double-post case.

I want to let everyone know that I heard from Curryong; she is OK. She was taking care of her daughter's twins, and then took two holiday trips. She will hopefully return to the forum once she has some things taken care that need to be done at home. I am looking forward to her return!

I can't tell you how relieved I was to hear from her. I'm glad she took some time off; we all need a break from time to time. She has definitely been missed here on the forum. I hope she returns soon.
