New Episode of the Lizzie Borden Podcast

Post by Stefani »

Hi all.

I've been hosting the Lizzie Borden Podcast since the death of Richard Behrens. There are now 28 episodes in total, with the latest one published just a few days ago.

This one is special. Especially if you are interested in researching the case or the history of Fall River. I invite you to take a listen and tell me what you think. Subscribe to the Lizzie Borden Podcast while you are there.

In this episode we interview Dennis Binette, co-author of many books published by the Fall River Historical Society, including The Knowlton Papers, Women at Work, the Fall River Discourses series, The Knowlton-Pearson Correspondence, The Jennings Journals, and Parallel Lives: A Social History of Lizzie A Borden and Her Fall River.

From his many years as assistant Curator of the Fall River Historical Society, Dennis is an acclaimed expert at research and sourcing information relating to Fall River history and the life of Lizzie Borden and the Borden murders. Dennis shares his tips, techniques, stories of working on the books, and research tools with us today.

Stefani -- just listened to Part One! Really enjoyed it. Looking forward to Part Two and hearing about Jennings Journals.

To the point you both made, research is still a treasure hunt and, for every 'find', there are at least 2-3 dead ends or mis-directions. What has clearly gotten so much better is where the research starts. Technology gives us a FAR more developed starting point than pre-internet, and I for one feel fortunate. Pretty sure I would not have had the patience to be a researcher 30 years ago.

When do you anticipate Part Two becoming available for listening?

Thanks again!

Thanks Stefani!

If possible, would love it if the Podcast explained how the sequence in the book matches with the sequence the lawyers actually wrote their commentary. The book is relatively alphabetic....is that how the attorney's kept it organized vs. in chronological order?

Also, most of the information appears to have been recorded in 1892, but there are a handful of randomly placed insights and interviews that had to have occurred in 1893 and/or near the trial. One example is the reference to Medley trying to interrogate Alice Russell near the trial when she was feeling ill.

Really looking forward to the podcast!
Thanks.
