Here's a mentioning of a Hiram Harrington in Michigan.
The period seems to be quite wrong for "our" Hiram, so normally I wouldn't have paid any attention, if it hadn't been for this Hiram Harrington's profession: a blacksmith. A relation perhaps?

This item tells the names of those who went West for gold. Hiram C. Harrington is on the list, left column.
If you check dates, maybe he went out by boat and returned overland, working his way?
I don't know.
Interesting name to pop up Airmid!

One of the Vinnicum's went to California as a '49er for the Gold Rush. It would make sense if Hiriam went West to seek his fortune in that period.

Yes but do you think he came back by way of Michigan?

Ole' Uncle John also went West to California, but that was c. 1897-1898. (The Glenwood Opinion March 3, 1898).
