Borden Census records

Post by Shanifaye »

I looked and couldnt find where anyone had put these up....I run a genealogy board and as a game one day I proposed that we pick someone famous/infamous and track them in the available census records. With my love/obsession for Lizzie it was only natural that I picked the Borden family lol.

I havent really posted here, mainly because you guys do SO well with your theories and discussions I dont want to come off as stupid....but I thought I would share my find.

My pick is Lizzie Borden and family....of course this will only be 2 census 1870 an 1880 since her father and stepmother were murdered in 1893. I've also included the 1900 where she lived with Emma and 1910 and 1920 when she had already parted ways with Emma and was in Maplecroft without her.

Just LOOK at Andrew's worth in 1870..... 25,000 in real estate and 15,000 in personal worth...geez in 1870? I included 1860 too (Lizzie isnt born yet, it was done in June and she wasnt born until July) but I thought it was interesting how his worth in 1860 was only 5300 and 6000. So he increased his real estate almost 500% and his personal worth 250% in 10 years.

I am giving links to the jpgs of the census records...since they need to be viewed at a large size to read them properly and I dont want to make the page load slowly for any who might be on dial up :)

Hope y'all dont mind the genealogy geek in me hehehe

Hi,

Welcome aboard, just wanted to say "Hi" and thanks for posting those census records of the Bordens. I too am a genealogy geek and want to do the charts of the Bordens also. If I do them myself, I am more apt to remember details and get a good grasp on who is who in Lizzie Land.

Yes I am fairly sure my ancestors saw the census taker coming and ran to avoid him at all costs.

Yes that does sound reasonable considering all of my fruitless searches for them.

Thank you so much!
I don't know how you loaded those!
I've stuck bits of this on the Forum here and there, but not the whole page!
Just the pertinent snippets.
These are great! Thanks again!

You're welcome.....When I found the census online I just saved the entire page so you could see the entire thing and threw them up on my server, they were too big for the attachment requirements here, but I didnt want them to be so tiny it hurt to have to try to read them lol
