Welcome to the forum, lizi.

I have to say that I am also highly confused! I don't mean to be unkind, but your post doesn't make any sense, whatsoever. :shaking: What is the point you are attempting to make here?

Strange to have a person join and try to teach us a religious thing. Sorry about that folks. Let me know if it happens again.

Coming on the Lizzie Borden forum and trying to convert members to religion is like placing lipstick on Elsie Borden the Cow. It doesn't work here. Unless you can make some connection to Lizzie Borden or one of her contemporaries, spiritual talk is best left at church or temple. And the fact that The Bordens and most of FAll River's higher society having anything to do with Hinduism is preposterous. They just about tolerated the Catholics. If Lizzie had visited the Southern part of the Asian world we could stitch together some conversation. But in this case it was not the posters intentions. He was just fishing and figured he would drop his hook into the incubator and barb a baby. In the end what he/she has accomplished is being removed. :-?

Thanks, Stefani. I'm glad that person and their post has been removed.

I agree, MB, this forum is NOT the place to attempt converting it's members to any religion.

Yes Twins:

I'm not saying that we can't talk about religion altogether.

Perhaps someone wants to express an experience they had with a certain church or faith. Like when I had to bow and kiss Mother Superior's ring every time she called us to the front of the class. Or Father Rezendes making a little boy of 7 years of age stand outside in the pouring rain because I spoke in class, then send me home to change because I was dripping on the classroom floor, but making me clean it up before I left.

And all this has what to do with Lizzie? Not much, but we are not trying to convert people here and stories such as these have more to do with growing up than with worship.

Yes, there's "talking" religion then there is "ranting" religion.

To post the ideal religious conversation it should have a connection to Lizzie Borden, her times, city, and it's people. And that means Catholicism or Protestantism. The two major religions in Lizzie's world.

Oh yes, then there was Sister Florencia, who punished me by making me stand in front of the class with my arms stretched out, palms up, and placing a book in each hand. Issuing constant warnings not to drop my arms. I remember how fortunate I felt, since the leather strap hung on the wall by Sister's desk. It could have been worse.  :-|

I know what you mean, MB, and I totally agree. As a matter of fact, a few days ago I submitted a post in the thread titled, Why Lizzie may be innocent. I had to change my thoughts several times and be very careful not to bring my own religious beliefs into what I wanted to say. I could have said a lot more than what I posted, but instead this is what I came up with: http://tinyurl.com/o9u9vvb

Members need to understand that this forum is about the Borden murders of 1892, Victorian America and Lizzie Borden; it is not Facebook where members can post anything they want!

On the lighter side: I cracked up when I read your line of: 'Coming on the Lizzie Borden forum and trying to convert members to religion is like placing lipstick on Elsie Borden the Cow. It doesn't work here.'

Here you go, MB, Elsie Borden the cow with lipstick on!

You’re absolutely right! It doesn’t work! :shaking:

That's funny Twins: Elsie always creeped me out. Don't know why. Sort of like the animal world Aunt Jemima I suppose.

I understand why you would get concerned about expressing religious talk. I think it's ok to voice an opinion or belief. But it must stop there. Once it becomes a discussion or an argument, or a rally for a faith, etc., that's when the problem begins to blossom.

But I understand. Even what we are doing here, discussing the fact of discussing, appears wrong. But it's not.

That just about takes care of this thread.

Issue closed...........or NOT :!:
