A Halloween on Second Street 2006

Post by Shelley »

The evening was a balmy 60, a waxing moon, and a great gang of guests at the B&B. Our hostesses of course included Mistress of the Night, Lee Ann with pumpkinman Mr. Charles:

Uncle John became alarmed at all the witches and ghouls and spent the night peering out of the front hall closet.

Their House is a museum
And people come to see 'em
They really are a scre-am
The Borden Family.

Just come to Old Fall River
You just may quake and quiver
You're sure to shake and shiver
At Lizzie's B&B

The giftshop's great for shopping
With hatchets made for chopping
You're sure to be kept hoppin'
With the Borden Fam-i-ly

Hope everyone had a fun Halloween - and thanks to our guests, handymen Danny and Carlos, who fixed all sorts of things in the house. The last guest tucked in at 3 a.m. after some white noise, strobe light ghost photography. The Man in the Chimney was Ghost of Honor! Psychic Liz did readings on the third floor as a treat for guests, and then a sugarfest in the diningroom. What a shame the old house did not enjoy such fun and fellowship all those years ago. We were at 13 guests last night but had 3 "walk-ins" to break that bad luck.

You're welcome! It was one of the nicest Halloweens I can remember. The next day, Bedford Street was being repaved and getting over the Braga Bridge was impossible. Some guests were following me on the way back to Jersey, and we were stuck for a long time waiting to get up on the bridge. There were policement on every corner from 9th street right on up to the bridge. I forgot I had my Borden family "masks" in the car, including one of Lizzie in the window. As I drove down slowly, at each street, a policeman would call out "Hey Lizzie!" and laugh. Amazing how this town has made her face the mascot for the city- and everybody knows her.
