Defence Attorney's papers

Post by jcurrie »

I'm sure I read somewhere that the grandson of Mr Jennings, Lizzie's attorney, has donated his grandfather's papers on the case in his will to, I think, the Fall River Historical Society. These must make fascinating reading! Unfortunately, I've forgotten the site I read this on so if anyone can direct me to it, I would be grateful.

Incidentally, this summer I visited the museum/bed and breakfast for the first time. It was a great experience. I wish I had had the time to stay overnight. For Lizzie Borden fans, it was a great experience. Interest in this case will never die.

Also, I think I read somewhere that a group of law students at some university had debated the case and found Lizzle innocent! I would love to have been there. Does anyone on this Board have any further info?

Hi Jcurrie

Here is the newspaper article on the donation

I don't remember the debate but will look around for it
I know I ask perfection of a quite imperfect world
And fool enough to think that's what I'll find

Hi Jcurrie -

You may be referring to the mock trial held at Stanford University in September 1997. Here's a link to an article about it and also a link where you can view the mock trial on CSPAN.

Thanks so much, Harry and Diana, for the link to these further sites. I wish I could have been present at the Stanford University "trial".
