New Lizzie movie?

Post by missy777 »

I just saw an article from 6/7/13 mentioning a new Lifetime movie
is planned about Lizzie. Christina Ricci was chosen to play
her. Didn't see anything on the forum re it. Always up for a new movie
on the case, irregardless of the casting, etc. We shall see how it goes! :)

Looks like its already been finished. See this article:

And a whole slew of info on Ricci: http://www.palzoo.net/ChristinaRicci

BTW, welcome to the forum.

Great job Missy777 and Harry .
I didn't find this when I was looking for Lizzie movies . I did find this after your posts , Billy Campbell will play Borden’s attorney, Andrew Jennings, Clea Duvall will play Emma. Funny I didn't anything on IMDb . We'll see if they stick to the facts or repeat myths and rumors and make Andrew look like some kind of monster which in my opinion he wasn't .

I will check out the link, Harry, thanks!

Quick question: I didn't get an email notification that you both had commented on my post? Does that mean I need to make an adjustment to my profile?
Thanks!

ARE YOU READY FOR THIS? A sexy Lizzie!!! If you can get past the obvious casting mistake (don't get me wrong, Christina Ricci is a doll - but she's NO Lizzie Borden), consider that she's holding an ax instead of a hatchet, there's blood dripping from the ax (meaning she's already killed somebody) and she's headed UP the stairs; Abbe's the only victim found upstairs and Andrew wasn't killed until later, so shouldn't she be coming down the stairs? Obviously, if this poster is any indication of what the film is like, Hollywood has once again substituted sex and fantasy for historical fact.

The new movie will air on Lifetime on January 25th, and I will be watching it, mostly to see how much "fact" versus "myth" are involved.

Missy, if you view a New Topic and want to receive topic notifications, but don’t wish to post a reply to the thread, then you can do this…

1. Scroll up to the top of the topic page. Right under the icon for ‘NEW TOPIC’, you’ll find the option to ‘Subscribe topic’ – click on this option and it will change to ‘Unsubscribe topic’. You will then receive topic notifications when a new post is submitted by another member of the forum.

2. If you decide not to watch the topic anymore, then you can click on the ‘Unsubscribe option', which will stop the topic notifications.

I hope this helps!

Here's Lifetime's description of the movie -- sounds like it might start with the premise that an outsider "dunnit":

On a scorching, hot summer day in 1892 in Fall River, Massachusetts, Lizzie Borden returns home to the house she shares with her father Andrew, stepmother Abby and sister Emma. But, unlike any normal day, Lizzie encounters the bloody scene of her parents violently murdered. Police quickly question multiple suspects in town, but evidence keeps pointing back to the Borden’s youngest daughter Lizzie, the seemingly wholesome Sunday school teacher, as the prime suspect. Lizzie’s lawyer, Andrew Jennings, proclaims her innocence arguing that it is inconceivable a woman could commit the heinous crime of brutally murdering her family with an ax. Or is it? Lizzie is put on trial for the murders, both in the courtroom and in the press, sparking a widespread debate about her culpability. As the case rages on, the courtroom proceedings fuel an enormous amount of sensationalized stories and headlines in newspapers throughout the country, forever leaving Lizzie Borden’s name in infamy.

“Lizzie Borden Took An Ax” is produced by Sony Pictures Television for Lifetime. Judith Verno (“Masters of Sex,” “Drew Peterson: Untouchable”) serves as executive producer with Michael Mahoney (“The Memory Keeper’s Daughter”) producing. Nick Gomez (“The Blacklist”) directs from a script written by Stephen Kay (“The Mod Squad”).

Althought this movie is way off on the real facts of the case, I will probably buy a copy for my collection anyway.

I didn't see the film, but it is said that uncle John didn't appear in it. How could it be possible?

Well, Franz, as Fargo pointed out, this movie was way off on the real facts of the case.

There is another thread, which members posted their opinions of this movie. Here is the link:

Thank you twinsrwe.

Even if the film was made as an entertainment production, the role of Morse (reguardless Lizzie's guilt or innocence) could have been an enriching element for the plot of film, couldn't it?

You're welcome, Franz. Yes, I agree, the role of John Morse could have been an enriching element for the plot of this film. As we all know, John Morse was an important character in the Borden case.

Here are a couple of trailers of the Lifetime Movie:

My favorite lines in this trailer are:

Q. “Aren’t you a Sunday School teacher?”

A. “Only on Sundays.”

Good Grief!

Thank you for those links, twinsrwe.

I can only watch the second. OMG. I just don't believe that Lizzie could have pronunced "She is not my mother." in that way.

You're welcome, Franz. I know what you mean; it really was a bad movie! Believe me, you didn't miss anything. Although, it is an interesting movie to watch if you are counting the number of errors it contains!!!

Out of curiosity, you could only watch one of the links? The reason I ask, is that you stated you could only watch the second one, but Lizzie shouting out, "She is not my mother" is in the first link. (I agree, that part seemed a bit over the top, to say the least). OK, I'm confused; you weren't able to watch both links? Or, am I misunderstanding you?

BTW, I never imagined our dear Lizzie so...sexy as in the film.

OK, now we are on the same page.

Hmmm, I wonder why you can't see the second one??? Very strange. I’m so sorry you can’t view that link.

There is a part in the second trailer where Mr. Knowlton ask Lizzie about the dress she wore on the morning of the murders. Lizzie is portrayed as very 'naïve' when Knowlton tells her that “we need to see that dress in evidence.” Lizzie responds with, “What does that mean?” The next scene shows Lizzie in the back yard burning her dress in her nightgown. Yeah, like that happened!

It’s a strange movie in that there are parts of it that are fact based, but then the producers take the story into such extremely weird speculations.

Yes, and we know that the real Lizzie Borden did NOT wear low cut dresses, and drink wine. At least, I’ve never heard of her doing either. Have you?
