Lizzie Borden Society Forum Rules

These rules have been posted before, but time is nigh to repeat and update them for the times we live in.

It’s simple. Respect each other.
We ask that you show your fellow community members the same respect and courtesy you would show them when meeting face-to-face.

Be open to people from different backgrounds and different levels of understanding of the case.
New members can offer valuable insight and ideas. Keep an open mind, the topic in focus, and avoid emotional subjects, like politics and religion.

Do not personally attack or harass others because you disagree with them.
Name-calling, accusing someone of malicious behavior, insulting someone’s thoughts and theories, or other personal attacks will not be tolerated.

Be constructive and facilitate meaningful discussions.
We respect and encourage excitement and spirited debate in the forums. If you see a topic spiraling into a negative debate, jump in and bring some positive focus. However, if you encounter someone who is purposely trying to antagonize you, ignore it and report it to the Administration.

Don’t be a troll.
Posting with the direct intention of inflaming a topic for the sole purpose of provoking a negative emotional response from the readers is not acceptable.

We don’t allow hate speech or bigotry of any kind.
Do not post anything that alienates or offends individuals based on race, sexual orientation, gender, country, religion, etc. These types of posts, whether directed at an individual or a group, will not be tolerated. You may not post anything that is obscene, illegal, defamatory, libelous, threatening, pornographic, harassing, hateful, encourages criminal conduct, gives rise to civil liability, violates any law, harms minors, impersonates others, disparages this site, or is otherwise inappropriate. As a rule of thumb, if you wouldn't do it or say it in front of a child don't do it here.


Consequences for Inappropriate Behavior
The following actions will be taken at the sole discretion of the Admin in the noted situations. The first action will be taken at the first offense; subsequent actions will be taken if repeat offenses.

1. Possible warning based on minor severity or intention (language/cultural issues), skipped for more severe issues at our discretion. Posts in question will be deleted.
2. Ban for six months.
3. Permanent ban.

We depend on you, the community, to report problems when they arise. There is a REPORT button (looks like an exclamation point) you can select to let the Admin know about something you feel violates the rules. Violations will be edited or removed, and violators may have action taken against their account.

When a warning is given, the user will receive a notification. Acknowledgment of this warning does not constitute an admission of guilt; it merely confirms that you received the notification. You will be unable to post until the notification is acknowledged.

Due to privacy concerns, persons who report posts will not be notified about what actions, if any, were taken against the reported user.

We strive to be a respectful, lively community where opinions can be expressed, and members can learn and grow. It’s up to all of us to make the Lizzie Borden Society Forum a place where like-minded individuals can thrive.
