You are so right MB!

I omitted the last two sentences of my previous, since they were close to, if not actually, going against the forum rules. My apologies to Stefani if I went too far.

I had read this morning that the Fall River city council was considering taking the action of dismissing him from office. Like you, I will say no more.

Yes, by all means.

And to make certain we do not, here's a picture of a working girl toiling to rip off the old roof from the Maplecroft's garage last year before it was replaced. Some would say equality at it's best. Who said we Can't.... eh girl?

We were discussing earlier in this thread about the destruction of Profile Rock. Was whoever the person or persons were that destroyed that beautiful rock ever caught?

BTW: I ran across the following article when doing other research, and it reminded me of Profile Rock. Check it out: http://tinyurl.com/y26wvnat

Yes Twins. Could not download your link but was able to bring up the story on youtube. Sad.

There's a new group of young people emerging today that makes us hippies look like college professors and clerical monks. I call them the Grubhub / Wayfair generation. They want it all and they want it now. So naturally whey you don't know the worth of something or had to work hard to keep it you just push it over for kicks.

But make no mistake. The world is theirs. It is our job to take care of it but their job to respect it. Not always the case. (Outspoke son-of-a-witch, I can hear the young people say.    )

AS for the Rock.

There's no word to what caused Profile Rock to fall over. But the consensus is that it was a freak event of nature. But there has been little news since the misfortunate event.

As for the school there has been no word but it is still standing. I think there may be a demolition delay in place. I know that the Preservation Society... I mean the preservation society, was fighting it. To that I am very surprised. They usually don't act on such matters. They limit their activities and energy to social events, recreational gathering, or frolicking soirées. All the wrong reason for why a preservation society should exist. But for some reason they have spoken up and taken some action on the N. B. Borden School.

Fall River is probably one of he most corrupt cities in the state. That is why I finally moved out.

When I sued the owner of Maplecroft about splitting Maplecroft in two, and building a house in front of Lizzie's garage, and on an undersized lot, I went to city hall and got all the paperwork for the property. Maplecroft was listed as a one family.

Later, and in another case, I had to sue the people across the street about placing a business in a residential neighborhood. (they built a business without a variance and without even a building permits.) I brought up Maplecroft as a single family home as proof. By that time the owner had changed Maplecorft from a one family residence to a two family, without a variance. And the new entry at city hall had Maplecroft,NOW, as a two family since the 1930s, which was a lie. The owner of Maplecroft, who was always up to no good, had the records changed. How you asked. He threw a lawn party for a one of Fall River's candidate mayors.

So it is no surprise that the city lost the purchase and sales agreement for the N.B.Borden school, Lizzie 's old school, and nothing can be proven now since the buyer lied about what he was going to do with the building. When you read fall river's motto, "We'll Try", it means that they will try to misdirect, corrupt the law, and screw the little guy. And no one does anything about it.

Fall River can paint all the ethnic public graffiti they want. It's a city lacking ethics, principle, and honor. Deep inside, with it's polluted moral reputation, nothing will change, a few will profit, and it will never be a proud place to live. And when they proclaim "We'll Try", they mean they will try to destroy and demolish. It's not even sad any longer.

Joni Mitchell was in the news lately, at least around here, since she made a rare appearance at the Newport Folk Festival.

If you drive by the old site of the N.B. Borden school, you may just hear her song play in your head.

This is a perfect example of the irresponsibility and mindless, "I don't care about you or history," sort of thing that goes on in Fall River, especially when it comes to historical property, the past, and valued antiquity. No clue and no respect. The lack of regard, appreciation, and veneration for old property borders on the criminal. What else is new.

This was just posted on Facebook.

This is the Church house. It's claim of fame is being the oldest house in Fall River. (although it's not). And sits a little over 3 blocks away from Maplecroft in the heart of FR's historical district. (historical district... get it? It's a joke)

Read what it says, typical of the uneducated of the city. He makes little sense, although he gets his point across

The fellow is going to nail up new siding on this historical home with logs. Yes logs. (read the caption under the picture) And reading the comments he left on FaceBook, he doesn't give a damn. Yes it is his house and he can do what he wants. If that is what he wants to do he should not have purchased an historical property and left it for someone who appreciates history, its merit, and what it can teach us.

He also makes the fallacious and made-up claim that Lizzie Borden use to visit there and that his house was where Lizzie's girlfriend once lived. I read this on Facebook, although I can't access it any longer. If you go to "Our old house" on Facebook and find his post you will read it in the comment section.

:-?

It appears that the breach and violation of history has begun. The little house on French street, which is one of the oldest cottages in the city, is putting up vinyl logs. If it were a new house it would not make a difference. But this is a house which was built in 1750 and has enjoyed the reputation as being the oldest house in Fall River. (which it is not.)

But its historical complexion and character has been peeled away by an owner who has no respect for the past or historically significant structures. Such is Fall River and a good portion of its collective citizenry.

The Church-Tory house was built before this country was a country by Charles Church. Church was a Tory and supporter of the English. The way history was written, Charles Church was run out of the country and his property confiscated. For being a Tory. But it must have been much more than that. He must have indulged in treasonous behavior to pay such a price.

Although the Church house has been exalted as the oldest house in Fall River it does have at least two others that are as old, if not older. The Borden Winslow house, a three quarter size two story colonial is said to have been build in 1740, which makes it the oldest house in Fall River. Also the Lafayette house on Cherry street is said to have been built before 1750.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Borden–Winslow_House

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lafayette–Durfee_House

And if I am not mistaken, I don't think the Church house is even registered on the National Register of Historic Places.

Again, not the oldest but just as significant. And only 3 blocks away from Maplecorft.

Vinyl siding that looks like logs. Laughable if not tragic.
