This Sunday, at 10 pm on A&E, Psychic Kids visit the Lizzie Borden B&B.

This series is compelling. If you haven't seen it before I do recommend it. While I am open to the possibility of an afterlife and ghosts, I myself have never seen one nor felt anything remotely scary at the B&B. But then I might not be a tuning fork for spirits.

What I like about this show is that it isn't so much about ghosts, but kids who have "gifts" and don't know how to manage them. This idea could apply to all kinds of things, not just psychic abilities, and I think that is why I am compelled to watch week after week. It is a rather uplifting show in that the young adults and children are given tasks to help them manage their insights. It might serve as a good model for all at risk kids in our communities. Once the children have some confidence, their fears subside and they can feel more "normal" in their uniqueness.

Give it a try. And lemme know what YOU think.

YEA, I was a Pyschic Kid.

I remember staying out late and having premonitions that the big dude would grabbed me by the neck and begin beating me.

Sure enough, when I got home there he was.

Not only that.

But the big dude would send me to bed without supper.

Then there was the time we stole some comic books from Adams Pharmacy.

Before we did, I had a vision of the policeman with a big stick, a gun, and a badge------

Gee I wonder why you had a premonition of a big dude. . . Hahaaaaa

I will try to catch it just because they will go to the B & B. Thanks for the heads up.

Almost forgot it but did see a part anyway. Not sure what to think but it was interesting. Basically the idea I got was that there was a presence of an angry man. David Anthony? Uncle? Billy Borden? Hmmmm

One of the two girls seemed to really feel some pretty strong (evil?) vibes in the bedroom where Abby was killed if I understood what I was seeing.

I did enjoy watching it and thanks again for the heads up.

I thought it was a really fascinating show, on many levels. I was glad to see that the girls and their gifts were treated with considerable sensitivity. It was nice to note the one girl's empathy toward Abbie, yet not much attention was paid to Andrew's murder. All of the information on the angry man was quite tantalizing. And, how firmly and absolutely they dismissed Lizzie as being the culprit.
Thanks for the heads up on the program, Stefani. It was interesting enough on its own that I will definitely watch it again.

Yes, coincidental?

I neither believe or subscribe to these ghost shows>. True, some people have more awareness of the spiritual world around them than many of us, if in fact it does exist. Some things cannot be explained....etc.

But let us say that I fully endorse the special powers these kids are suppose to have..............(?)

It is interesting that they speak of the "angry man".

I for one believe that the murder was done by a man. If you, with anger or with haste, swung an ax at a large grape fruit 29 times chances are anyone would miss once or twice at the very least.......let alone an angry women.

Yet there were no axe cuts in the floor or sofa........all 29 were direct hits. The person who wheeled that ax had done in many times. (cutting fire wood, putting down animals, driving nails, etc.)

Mind-you, I'm not exonerating Lizzie Borden from sharing the guilt.

But, if you believe this nonsense..........no, sorry, allow me to rephrase that. If you believe this nonsense........ of people seeing ghosts, talking to ghosts etc. Then for sure, for sure, the killer of the Borden seniors was a man.

No?

Thanks for the link to the replay, Stefani.

I don’t doubt that genuine ‘sensitives’ do exist but I’m fairly skeptical in this particular instance. The girls generate few observations in line with what we know about the case. They refer to a lot of screaming, the smell of glass cleaner or window spray, and a knife ripping Abby's stomach. No one heard screaming the day of the murders, Bridget’s testimony indicates she used plain water to wash the windows, and there were no wounds to Abby’s stomach (unless you count the autopsy).

Their ‘angry man’ versus helpless female who ‘knew she was going to die’ narrative sounds more like the girls were guessing at a domestic crime perpetrated by a husband against a wife; especially because they first become aware of the angry man in Andrew’s room and they only sense the spirit of a single victim, a female.

(Just an aside -- Barbara Morrisey is identified as Lizzie’s direct descendant. But I always thought ‘direct’ implied biological parentage, no? I’m not a genealogical buff by any stretch – so could be wrong here.)

mbhenty, I too believe the murder was committed by a man. What was interesting to me is that this is what an unsure psychic girl felt. If you were going to fake it (and look up stuff first), Lizzie and Bridget are suspects #1 and #2.

Or do you think she just had an innate prejudice toward a male...I don't think she knew the weapon was a hatchet?

Yes nbcatlover:

I don't believe there was any bias or prejudice on the part of the girls in choosing a male killer. I just think that a male was the most likely choice when it comes to committing violence or murder.

But from what I understood, these young girls had no idea of what sort of crime was committed at 92 before going there. It could have been a hanging, suicide, or a women drowning her children in a tub. Instead they came up with a male slayer, and an angry one at that.

It is obvious that it was a crime of passion.........or was it?

Is this where the girls come up with the term "angry"?

The fact that Andrew received "only" 10 whacks and his wife 19, could have been because he was interrupted by someone, or something. Being downstairs at an intersection where a hallway and 3 rooms come together is a lot more risky than in the upstairs bedroom.

Though........ 19 swings is a lot of swings. I ask readers to raise their arms in the air and pretend to swing down an ax. Do it 19 times. After 8 or 9 you are left asking.......why continue? She's dead.

By the time you get to 19 you are convinced that there was more here then you average conventional murder.

Though the killer could have been an associate or someone who had dealings with Andrew and had a passion of hate for him.

But why kill his wife? Who knows? Perhaps the killer approached Abbey on the street and addressed her about troubles with her husband and she shunned him.

That is what is so fascinating about this case. There's a box with several hundred pieces, but it takes only one or two to complete the real puzzle.

But it is interesting that the Psychic Kids came up with a male assassin.

If you take into account the time Lizzie had between finding her father dead and the maid going upstairs to nap there was not enough time to kill Andrew, get rid of the bloody clothing and ditch the ax.

Unless the maid was in on it and when she was sent for the doctor she got rid of the ax and clothing. Even that would be difficult to do.

Irish Immigrant in cahoots with her female aristocratic employer?

Nah.........don't thinks so.

Lizzie did it?

Well, I've got problems with that also.......
