A little bit of Fall River news

If you have not been following Fall River news lately, I wanted to catch you up a bit. The new mayor of Fall River, Will Flanagan, decided it would be best for the city to sell 300 acres that had been set aside for biomanufacturing to the Mashpee Wampanoag Indians to build a casino.

I won't go into the ins and outs of the deal, but he spent one whole year out of his 2 year term on this project, and today the appeals court has ruled against the city and the land cannot be sold for this purpose.

I was very much opposed to the casino in the city, for historic, economic, social, and moral reasons. Today marks the first time that the mayor has seemed humbled by the decision and looks like he plans to try to restart the biomanufacturing use.

If you would like to read about it, here are some links for you to visit. They go from most recent to oldest.
