1872 Exchange Note signed by Andrew - Ebay

Post by Gramma »

This looks authentic! Has IRS stamp and DA Brayton's signature as well. On back is name to be paid but I can't read it in the pic.
Expensive but definitely a piece of history.

I heard about this but forgot to go look at it.
Thanks for the link.
I was told that Andrew Borden would have signed as Andrew J. Borden, one reason being there were a few Andrew Bordens in Fall River.
I have no other knowledge of this item or this sale other than this opinion given me, unsolicited.

That would be a vali point, Kat. I don't know if he ever signed just Andrew Borden. He may have. I wish we could see the back better to know which mill was involved. It looks like one name is W W Thurber but I am not sure.
I have no connection to this either.

I don't know why people selling items can't provide clearer photos with their eBay items! I can just make out Andrew's signature, and that's about it.
Whenever I sell items on eBay, I spend hours on the photographs, getting them just right. You can't sell something if people can't see it clearly--although I did notice that people ar bidding rather high on it.

I agree about the clarity!
I thought my glasses needed cleaning!
Could it be on purpose?

I don't think it's on purpose in this case. It has to do either with the quality of the camera, or the photographer's inability to use it.
I'm sure that there have been cases of a photograph being slightly blurry, to hide the true condition of an object.
