THE axe ?

Post by theebmonique »

This is a current eBay offering. What people won't claim, just to make a sale.

http://cgi.ebay.com/Miniature-Lizzie-Bo ... dZViewItem

I emailed the seller the following...and will let you all know what or if I hear anything back:

Item: Miniature Lizzie Borden's Ax CDHM (280027767269)
This message was sent while the listing was active.

I am interested in the Lizzie Borden case. Your item for auction is a scale model of THE actual axe used in the 1892 murders ? WOW ! How did you come upon being able to see the REAL one ?

Thanks,
Tracy

Tracy...

p.s. Yes...I know it is not THE axe and that this seller has not seen the REAL axe. I am just interested in what his reply will be to my questions about his 'claim'.

OK...here's the response I got from the seller. He must not have done THAT much research...since we all know the THE "axe" has never been officially found/identified. I have also included my follow up response.

p-j-jammers is the seller.

I am using artistic license to the fullest. I did as much research on the net that I could and went from there. Can't guarantee it is totally to scale.

Thank you for your response and your honesty. I thought maybe you had found something that those of us who have been studying the case for yeears have NOT been able to find...the REAL axe. The actuall murder weapon has never been officially indentified/found. If you would like to investigate the case further, I reccommend the following website, as it is #1 for information on all aspects of the Borden murder case. We will be happy to help you with any questions you may have.

That's the cutest axe I've ever seen! I shudder to think what work went into something that small.

Shame on you, Tracy, for forcing that poor little seller to come clean on that axe! Don't you realize that some sellers need to lie, er, um I mean "twist the truth" a bit to make a buck? I mean really!

Boy, at 2" I could just about split a zit with that axe, if I'm careful not to hit a major artery. Not only is that the wrong handle for that type of axe head but the head is on upside-down.

I think it would be kind of neat to have though. I saw a tiny replica of Lizzie's shingling hatchet (HH) at a swap meet recently but she wanted too much for it. I see them on ebay now and then.

That little axe is back for sale and I sent him an email about it being the "Actual" axe. Once again he quoted the artistic license bit.
