1985 or 2006 Porter?

Post by darthvader »

Both books seem to be about $100. Which edition is the more desireable?

Thanks in advance...

Either way, a 100 dollars is a good piece of change to plop down on a book. If wanting to purchase one, I would choose the King Philip Publishers copy. (1985)

The 1985 edition has long been out of print and has established a track record over time as a collectible. Though, if you wait for one to come up on ebay you should be able to purchase one for 45 to 75 dollars.

The 2006 copy was, and still is, published by the Lawbook Exchange, a publisher out of New Jersey. I think they publish anything to do with Law. Dahhhh?

I have yet to see a copy so can not comment on the binding or quality. I hope to attain one for my collection, as a collectable that is, but not ready to pay the premium that is being asked. Furthermore, we do not know how long they will be publishing the book or whether the Lawbook Exchange is a print on demand, which would mean forever....(?)

So if you are going to run out and get yourself a copy of Porter's book and can't wait for a deal, purchase the 1985 publisher. Make sure it's in fine condition. Spending that sort of money you must consider resale.`

Thank you Kat, you read my mind - pretty scary, isn't it? (My mind that is).
You beat me to it - I was going to post the same web site that you did.

Thanks guys!

I suspected as much. A 1985 copy might just be the ticket.

But....

There is a 1893 copy available from a dealer in Texas and he wants $1000. I almost had myself talked into to it but if $100 is steep, a $1000 is the top of the mountain. Is that really crazy? I have seen it online and on CD ROM but this item would go in my secretary as a display item.

Somebody please talk me into or out something.
