Belfast, Ireland 1901 Street Scenes
I have just added a portion of a video to YouTube (my first!). It was extracted from a much longer British documentary.
It shows street scenes in Belfast in 1901. It's a rare, fascinating look back in time. Horse drawn trolleys and large numbers of people on the street give some idea what Fall River may have looked like in 1892. Note the large number of straw hats especially on the ladies. Also people seem oblivious to the traffic and cross the street at will.

Bridget would have loved it.

Gosh, traffic was on the "wrong side of the road" even then.
Wonder what those signs on wheels were? Probably ads, tho they look rather like newspapers...the print was too small to tell.
Did you see the guy smoking his pipe & reading while crossing the street?
Very cool, Harry! Thanks!

I believe the rolling signs were for this very film. The folks that created it looked for and filmed large crowds and then showed the films at local halls. They tried to lure customers by telling them that they could find and see themselves on film.
This extraction is part of a large film which was found in 1990. See:

Thank you, Harry, very cool footage! Its interesting, no one seems to bother looking both ways when crossing the streets, or really looking at all. I guess its something that came about with the creation of fast cars?

I LOVE old photos of just "common, everyday" life. This is wonderful.

Were you able to see a video?
I saw it when Harry first posted it, but I don’t see it now?
