Even more stupid moral panics

Post by Constantine »

This one's on a different website. The first one is on one of the other two lists I posted. The others are all "new."

A man ... wants to give his wife ... the interest in a little homestead where her sister lives. How wicked to have found fault with it. How petty to have found fault with it. (Hosea Knowlton in his closing argument.)

Oh my goodness! I agree, these moral panics are stupid, but they are also funny. The one that I found most interesting is the one about dancing to the Waltz. Since this dance had become one of the trendiest dances in the world by the 19th century, I wonder if Lizzie ever danced to the Waltz.

I wouldn't be surprised. It's not high on my list of mysteries, though.

I'm afraid that may have come across the wrong way! Sorry, if so!

No, it didn't come across in the wrong way, I understood what you meant.

I'm a little late reading this thread but glad I did. I remember when the parents were complaining that pinball machines used metal that we needed for the war effort. Interesting panic stuff.
