Post by doug65oh »

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. - Ray Charles, the Grammy-winning crooner who blended gospel and blues in such crowd-pleasers as "What'd I Say" and heartfelt ballads like "Georgia on My Mind," died Thursday, a spokesman said. He was 73.

You give your hand to me and then you say hello, and I can hardly speak my heart is beating so, and anyone can tell you think you know me well, but you don't know me.....

I have many CD's of his, including a box set I bought a few years ago.

He was a wonderful artist.

He will be missed....

Wow! So he is up in *God's Waiting Room* (that's what I call it) with President Reagan, eh? Interesting match-up. There should be 3. The next is usually *A Beautiful Blonde*.

Speaking of RR.... Although I have never been a big fan of Nancy's I certainly do admire her strength and composure during these last few days. (Not to mention her devotion to him during his illness)

I saw on television when they arrived at AFB and she was so frail and sad looking holding that man's arm who escorted her. I cried for her....

I think the *Beautiful Blonde* may have been Mrs. Shand-Kydd, Diana's mother. I just heard of her burial!
She was the grandmother of Princes William & Harry:

"Her daughters, Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Lady Fellowes, and her son, the 9th Earl Spencer, survive her.

Frances Ruth Burke Roche Shand Kydd, born January 20 1936; died June 3 2004 ."

Today the NY Times had both Reagan and Ray Charles on the front page, beautiful words for both.
RIP good men, thank you.
