On of my favorite Brits just died. Emma Chambers who played Alice Tinker on the Vicar of Dibley. I've been trying to discover what she really died of since she was only 53, and reports have it that she died from natural causes. Only 95 year olds die of natural causes, not someone in their 50s. I knew that Emma was an asthmatic with at times serious complications.

I loved the character she played as Alice Tinker, and Vicar was my only exposure to Ms. Chambers acting. She reminded me of the character, Father Dougal McGuire, a character on the sitcom Father Ted. Still sad to hear the news. She was a funny, funny lady.

Searched over and over, on countless sites, and though mostly all of them report the cause of death as natural, I can't find out of what natural cause Emma Chambers died of.

The death labeled "natural causes" brings me to believe that she committed suicide and things are being kept quite. I an understand and appreciate that. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE I'm I declaring that she did kill herself. But like Robin Williams she was 'out of control funny person' at times. Even in interviews. Many comedians suffer with depression. Thus they go through life making fun of themselves and everything around them. It's an escape, a refuge, a retreat from the pangs and spears of life that sadden many of us.... but more so those who suffer from incessant clinical depression. I should know. If any of my Brit friends on here discover what Emma died of please let me know. It interests me greatly.

MB, I know this does not answer the actual cause of why Emma Chambers died at the age of 53, but I wanted to put to two cents worth in here.
‘Natural Causes’ is a very strange term to use for the death of someone who is 53 year old. Normally this term is used when an elderly person passes away due to old age, and therefore to state "natural causes" as being the cause of death, and not name the a condition is not usual. Fact is: You don't naturally just die when you are 53 years old.
Emma Chambers was not only asthmatic, she also had a severe allergy to animals. The sources I found that information in did not name any particular animal, nor was it stated that either one of these conditions played a role in her death.
Chambers was asthmatic and seriously allergic to animals - unable to touch them or anything they had come into contact with.
In 2002, she told The Telegraph that her allergy could leave her needing a steroid injection or being rushed to hospital.

Following is some information that you may find interesting:
A common lung disorder in which inflammation causes the bronchi to swell and narrow the airways, creating breathing difficulties that may range from mild to life-threatening. Symptoms include shortness of breath, cough, wheezing, and chest tightness. The diagnosis of asthma is based on evidence of wheezing and is confirmed with breathing tests. Many allergens and irritants can precipitate attacks of asthma. Avoidance of precipitating factors can be helpful. Treatment may include lifestyle changes, activity reduction, allergy shots, and medications to prevent or reverse the bronchospasm.

This is from an article titled ‘Allergy to Animals Factsheet Dec 2016’, which you may also find interesting:

What are the symptoms of animal allergy?
If you are one of those people affected, pet allergens can trigger allergic symptoms such as sneezing, nose or eye itching and watering, itchy rashes, and sometimes severe wheezing. If you have asthma as well as pet allergy, you may suffer asthma attacks and there may be a progressive deterioration in your lung function.

I worked in an assisted living facility with a woman who was severely allergic to cats. One day one of the resident’s relatives brought a cat up on the floor. My co-worker did not get within 20-25 feet of the cat and had an allergic reaction. Her throat immediately swelled up and she began to gasp for air. I called 911, and stayed on the phone with the operator, while I helped another co-worker administer an EpiPen into her thigh. The EpiPen helped, but she was still have problems breathing The paramedics finally arrived and took her to the hospital with siren on. The next time I saw her, she told me that the doctors at the ER told her that her next attack would be fatal.

So, I think it is a good possibility that Emma died of an allergic reaction to an animal.
