November 26th:

Film Director Bernardo Bertolucci (Last Tango in Paris, The Last Emperor, 1900) died of cancer at the age of 77.

Ragtime pianist Johnny Maddox died on Wednesday, November 27th at the age of 91. When I was seven years old, I was absolutely nuts about his recording of the "Crazy Otto Medley."

George H. W. Bush, 41st president of the United States, died at his home in Houston, on November 30, 2018, at the age of 94. He suffered from vascular parkinsonism, a form of Parkinson's disease that had forced him to use a motorized scooter or wheelchair since at least 2012.

Ken Berry, an American actor, dancer and singer, who was best known for his roles in the TV series of F Troop, The Andy Griffith Show, Mayberry R.F.D. and Mama's Family, died on December 1, 2018, at the age of 85.

Oh no, just learning of this. Loved this guy.

Penny Marshall, an American actress, director and producer, who was known for role as Laverne DeFazio on the television sitcom, Laverne & Shirley, died in Los Angeles from complications of diabetes on December 17, 2018, at the age of 75.

One of my favorite TV personalities died today. Sister Wendy. What a character. She was a precious household name to some of us who loved watching her. Not your average art critic or Nun.... Some of her provocative if not erotic descriptions were unparalleled for a religious lady. Honest, blunt, and to the point. Some in the Catholic church were ruffled by her presentations and interpretations of art. I for one loved Sister Wendy.

Simcha Rotem, was one of the last living fighters from the heroic Warsaw ghetto uprising against the Nazis during World War II. He died December 22, 2018, in Jerusalem at the age of 94.

Richard Overton, was the oldest remaining U.S. World War II veteran, the oldest man in the United States, and the third-oldest man in the world, died on Thursday, December 27, 2018, in Austin, Texas of pneumonia at the age of 112.

Daryl Dragon, the "Captain" of 1970s soft rock hit-making duo Captain and Tennille, died on January 2, 2019, from renal failure in Prescott, Arizona, at the age 76.

Singer, actress, dancer and comedian Carol Channing died today (January 15, 2019) just 16 days short of her 98th birthday.

Carol Channing died on January 15, 2019, of natural causes at her home in Rancho Mirage, California at the age of 97.

Maxine Brown Russell, who along with her brother Jim and sister Bonnie formed the country trio ‘The Browns’, died in Little Rock, Arkansas, on Monday January 21, 2019, at the age of 87 from complications of heart and kidney disease.

Masazo Nonaka, who was recognized by Guiness World Records as the world’s oldest man in April, 2018, died on Sunday, January 20, 2019, at his home in Japan, from natural causes. He was 113 years old.

Stewart Adams, a British chemist who led the team that developed the painkiller Ibuprofen in the early 1960s, died January 30, 2019 at the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham, England at the age of 95.

Lee Radziwill, who was the younger sister of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, died on February 15, 2019, at the age of 85.

Kjell Rasten, husband and manager of musician and TV personality Charo, died by suicide on February 18, 2019. He was 78.

Peter Tork, who was best known as the keyboardist and bass guitarist of the Monkees, died at his home in Mansfield, Connecticut on February 21, 2019 from complications of Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma. He was age 77.

Katherine Helmond passed away at her home in Los Angeles on February 23, 2019, from complications of Alzheimer Disease. She was 89 years old. (Alzheimer is such a nasty disease.)

For those who have not seem the film: Katherine Helmond portrayed Emma Borden in the 1975 TV film, The Legend of Lizzie Borden, starring Elizabeth Montgomery as Lizzie Borden. Personally, I don’t think two better actresses could have been picked to portray Lizzie and Emma.


I admit: It didn’t dawn on me that yesterday was the real Emma Borden’s birthday. Shame on me!

Actress Lisa Sheridan, best known for her roles in "Halt and Catch Fire" and "Invasion", died on February 25, 2019, at her home in New Orleans; the cause of her death is unknown at this time. She was 44 years old.

Nathaniel Taylor, actor, was best known for his role as Lamont's friend Rollo on the classic 1970s sitcom, "Sanford and Son.". He passed away on February 27, 2019, from complications after suffering from a heart attack. He was 80 years old.

Actress Georgia Engel, who was best known for her roles as Georgette Baxter, in the TV sitcom The Mary Tyler Moore Show, and her role as Pat MacDougal in the TV show, Everybody Loves Raymond, died on April 12, 2019 at the age of 70. The cause of death is unknown, because she had not consulted doctors due to her religious beliefs.

Ken Kercheval, actor who played J.R.'s rival Cliff Barnes on the primetime soap, "Dallas", died of pneumonia on April 21, 2019, at the age of 83.

Doris Day died today at 97.

it's frightening how many people still die of that even at advanced ages. (Bob Hope died of pneumonia at 100!) You'd think it would be easily curable or preventable in this day and age! (I've been inoculated against it, though even a vaccine can't protect you from all types of it.)

Thanks for posting that Peggy Lipton has passed away, MB. I heard that she had died on May 11, 2019, at the age of 72 from colon cancer. Sorry I didn’t post her passing when I heard about it.

Author Herman Wouk (The Caine Mutiny) died on May 18th at just short of 104.

Comedian Sammy Shore also died on May 18th at 92.

Dennis Day, an original Mouseketeer, has been found dead at his Phoenix, Oregon, home, after being missing for almost a year. The Oregon State Medical Examiner’s office identified the body, although they were unable to use dental records or DNA because of the condition of the remains, Oregon State Police said Thursday. Dennis was either 75 or 76 years old at the time of his death from unknown causes.

Why couldn’t dental records have been used? Did he have no teeth? His death has a lot of mystery and unanswered questions surrounding it. Very strange...

Luis Alvarez, a former New York City police detective and 9/11 responder, who fought for the 9/11 Victim Compensation fund, died on Saturday, June 29, 2019, at the age of 53, The cause was complications of colorectal cancer, for which Mr. Alvarez received a diagnosis in 2016. The disease was linked to the three months he had spent at the site of the toppled World Trade Center towers in Lower Manhattan, searching for survivors and for remains of his fellow officers on nearby rooftops and in the toxic rubble at ground zero.

Carlin Dunne, motorcycle racer, died on June 30, 2019, competing on the winding annual Pikes Peak International Hill Climb course, which climbs more than 4,500 feet, when he was killed in a crash less than a quarter mile from the finish line. He was 36 years old.

Arte Johnson was an American comic actor who was a regular on TV's Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In, died on Wednesday, July 03, 2019, at the age of 90, from bladder and prostate cancer.

Cameron Boyce, actor, died in his sleep at his home in Los Angeles, on July 6, 2019, due to a seizure which was brought on by epilepsy. He was only 20 years old.

Peter Fonda, actor, died on August 16, 2019 after suffering respiratory failure due to lung cancer. He was 79.
