Lizzie in the lab with the pendulum

Post by lydiapinkham »

Hello, Everyone!

I'm just getting used to the new posting format. Today we were working with the kids in science lab, making pendulums and measuring the changes made by length and weight. Guess what we had to construct the pendulum weights with. sinkers! Think about it: string, sinkers, I think I've found Lizzie's calling. Besides, there are all those chemicals lying around in a lab....

Good Morning!

Glad to be back! I saw Kimberly's denial and wondered if the age should be changed to anyone over 150? There are more and more 100 year-old out there. Not sure they are using computers, though!

You mean August 4th or 1872?

Yes, August 4th! Not 1872! It is also Roger Clemmons, pitcher, birthday.

 Hi, Kash! How are you, long time no read!

For some reason this just popped into my head when I read Kash's post, must be her writing vibes.

Picture Mrs. Churchill, Alice Russell, Phoebe Bowen, Bridget Sullivan and Emma Borden singing this to the tune of "Maria" from the Sound of Music:

Miss Lizzie

Up in the barn, so she said, went there to look for lead
At the funeral she never shed a tear
She burned her dress that had a stain
And she laughed at the top of the stair
She was up in her room
Basting loops without a care
I've even heard the nasty things she said about Abby

She said she cried when her Father died
But is her distress quite for real
She never touched a scrap of Mutton
No, she never shared their meal
I hate to have to say it
But I very firmly feel
Miss Lizzie had it out for Abby

I'd like to say a word in her interest
Miss Lizzie has not confessed

How do you solve a problem like Miss Lizzie
How do you get the truth and pin her down
How do you think it will go for Miss Lizzie
Shes already guilty is the talk of the town

Many a thing you know you'd like to ask her
Many a thing she ought to make us understand
But how do you make her say
All the things she did that day
How, when she won't testify on the stand

Oh, how do you solve a problem like Miss Lizzie
Did she hold a hatchet in her hand

When she talks I'm confused
Out of sorts and not amused
And I never know exactly what is real
Unpredictable as a storm
Shes always cool, never warm
Shes an orphan! Shes a murderess! Shes a heel!

She didn't pass her Inquest
And they pulled her from the family nest
She was thrown in Taunton with head awhirl
She is gentle! She is wild!
Shes my sister! Shes a child!
She is a Sphinx of coldness!
Shes a girl!

That was great, Susan!
Thanks- that's so creative! :-)
......
I'm reading about Martha Stewart right now and she is born August 3rd.
They keep saying Leo's are self-involved- I think that's quite a generalization.

I am so confused...maybe it will just take time to get used to this new forum. I can't upload my picture to my profile, and when I try to check my profile, only about half of it is there...the rest is covered in gray. Any suggestions ?

Thanks all, glad you liked it. Yes, seeing Kash's post reminded me of all the goofy song parodies I wrote in the past and this one just came into my head. Wish you could see the visuals I get of the ladies singing it, its hilarious!
