Hey Franz:

I am watching this interesting documentary on Aljazeera, called Marco Polo a New World—making comparisons between east and west, the grand canal of China and those of Venice, etc.

Living outside of China, you must have an excellent prospective on west meets east, the differences, and the beautity of both cultures. For we have the choice to see the beauty or the ugly. Though the dissimilarities and contrasts are tremendous.

Just as Perry opened Japan to the outside world, I am living during an era and witnessing China open itself up to the west, especially since I remember well the talks between Nixon and Mao Zedong.

Never-the-less, Aljazerra has some interesting documentaries. This one is excellent. For man must strive to understand man. We are creatures that kill what we fear. Sometimes all it takes is understanding and the fear melts away.
